Our NBA analyst shares his two top totals for Sunday’s card. Go inside to find out what those NBA picks are, and why he’s opted to bet on them.

Atlanta Hawks vs. Orlando Magic 1:05 PM ET
Atlanta has gone over the total in three of its last four away games. Those contests averaged a combined 207.3 points scored per game. In two games versus Orlando this season, Atlanta has shot 50.6% from the floor, and converted on 48.8% (20-41) of their three point attempts.

Orlando has been terrible on the defensive end of the floor during recent games. They’ve allowed 107 points or more in each of their previous eight games, and went over the total on six of those occasions.

This game has the earmarks of a high scoring affair relative to the present total. Current NBA odds clearly provide me with the most favorable number for this specific wager.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Miami Heat 2:05 PM ET
The Clippers defensive play has been stout of late. They’ve allowed 93 points or less in five of its previous six games. Some of that recent success can be attributed to the methodical offensive pace they’ve chosen to play at. The Clippers have averaged just 78.6 field goal attempts per game over its last eight contests, and thus limiting opponent’s offensive possessions.

Miami has gone under the total in each of their previous three home games. There was a combined average of just 183.3 points scored per contest. The Heat has played at a much brisker pace offensively in recent games. However, they still average only 80 field goal attempts per game this season. Sunday will be Miami’s fourth game in the last six days, and that’s conducive to tired shooting legs. Miami has gone 19-6 (76%) under the total this season when facing an opponent with a winning record.

The Clippers have committed an average of only 13 turnovers per game this season. Miami has gone 17-2 (89.5%) under the total this season versus opponents that commit an average 14 turnovers or less per game. Those 19 contests averaged only a combined 185.6 points scored per game.

I’m in favor of this game being a low scoring contest. One of my Sunday NBA picks will support that exact notion.
