Our NBA analyst shares his two top totals on Thursday’s card. Go inside to find out what those NBA picks are, and why he’s chosen to wager on them.

New York Knicks vs. Detroit Pistons 7:05 PM ET
New York has gone 6-1 under the total in their last seven games, and that includes 4-0 during its previous four. Those last four outings have averaged a combined 195.0 points scored per game. The Knicks have scored 95 points or less in five of its previous seven games. They’ll be facing an opponent (Detroit) today that forces an average of 14 turnovers per contest. New York is 13-4 under the total this season when facing an opponent which forces 14 turnovers or less per game. Those 17 contests have averaged only a combined 191.0 points scored per game.

Detroit will be playing in their third game in four nights on Thursday. During their last two contests, Detroit has shot a terrible 40.4% from the field. They’re also the worst shooting free throw team in the Eastern Conference, converting on just 65.0% of its attempts.

I like this game to be a low scoring affair relative to the current total. One of my NBA picks on Thursday will concur with that notion.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. New Orleans Pelicans 9:35 PM ET
New Orleans has gone over the total in each of their previous ten contests. They’ve also gone 18-6 (75%) over the total at home this season and shot a sizzling 39.0% from three-point land in those games. The Pelicans have exhibited shoddy defensive play over its last five contests, allowing opponents to shoot 50.1% from the floor, and convert on a sizzling hot 47.5% of their three point attempts. New Orleans has allowed a lofty 105.2 points per game for the season.

The Lakers are allowing a sizable 106.3 points per game this season. They’ll be facing a New Orleans club on Thursday which has gone 15-3 (83.3%) over the total in home games this season, when facing opponents that allow 99.0 or more points per contest. The Lakers are average just 96.3 points per game during the 2015-2016 NBA campaign. However, they’re coming off a high scoring and exciting 119-115 win over Minnesota in its previous game.

Any team (Lakers) that averages 92.0 to 98.0 points scored per game, coming off a game in which there was a combined 225 points or more being scored, versus an opponent (Pelicans) that allows 102.0 or more points per game, resulted in those contests going 56-22 (71.8%) over the total since 1996. The average total in those 78 contests was 209.2, and there were an average of 215.7 points scored per game.

Current NBA odds provide me with a best paring of number and price for this specific wager.
