Our NBA handicapping professional shares his two top totals on Tuesday’s card. Go inside to find out what those NBA picks are, and why he’s opted to bet on them.

Phoenix Suns vs. Philadelphia 76ers 7:05 PM ET
Phoenix has scored 98 points or less in each of its last four, and six of the previous seven games. The Suns have shot a miserable 39.3% from the field over the past five contests. It’s been painfully obvious, they’re not the same offensive team without star point guard Eric Bledsoe who was lost for the season due to a knee injury. They’ve also be without the services of its other point guard Brandon Knight, sidelined indefinitely while recovering from a groin injury. The major sportsbooks have certainly made the proper adjustments to account for those injuries, and that’s been indicated by shrinking totals in Phoenix games.

The 76ers have been a horrible defensive team for the better part of the season thus far. However, they’re showing signs of improvement on that end of the floor. Philadelphia has limited its opponents to 42.8% shooting from the field over its last five games. The 76ers are averaging a rather low 94.3 points scored per game this season, and have converted on a horrible 63.3% of its free throw attempts at home.

Current NBA odds display a total of 204 on this contest. Philadelphia has beaten the spread by a combined 43.5 points over its last five games. Phoenix has been beaten against the spread by a combined 62.5 points during their previous ten games. This sets up an extremely strong NBA betting algorithm. Any home team (76ers) with a total of 200.0 or more,  which has beaten the spread by 42 points or more in their previous five games, versus an opponent that been beaten against the spread by 48 points or more in its last 10 contests, resulted in those games going 23-3 (88.5%) under the total since 1996.

Dallas Mavericks vs. LA Lakers 10:35 PM ET
These teams have met twice this season, and both games stayed under the total. There was a combined average of only 184.0 points scored per contest. Dallas has gone 7-1 under the total in its last eight away games. The Lakers are 9-3 under the total in its previous twelve games at home. The Mavericks have shot a less than impressive 42.8% from the field during its previous five contests, and the Lakers were at 41.3% in that same time frame.

This game has all the earmarks of a low scoring affair. One of my NBA picks on Tuesday will concur with that ideology.
