Our NBA handicapping professional shares his two top totals on Saturday’s slate. Go inside to find out what those NBA picks are, and why he’s chosen to wager on them.

New York Knicks vs. Charlotte Hornets 7:05 PM ET
New York has gone 5-1 over the total in their previous six contests, and that includes 3-0 in away games. The Knicks defensive play has been horrible of late. They’ve allowed 103 points or more in each of their last six games, and that includes 110 or greater on five of those occasions. On a positive note, New York is averaging 104.8 points scored per contest during its last five, and has converted on an excellent 82.1% of their free throws this season.

Charlotte has gone 4-1 over the total during its last five contests, and there was a combined average of 219.2 points scored per game. The Hornets have scored 107 points or more in four of its last six games. They’ve also allowed 105 or greater in each of their previous five. Charlotte has made an outstanding 84.4% of their free throws over its last five outings.

Current (11:40 AM ET) NBA betting odds at Heritage clearly provides the best number for this NBA pick.

Detroit Pistons vs. Denver Nuggets 9:35 PM ET
Detroit has gone 5-1 over the total in its last six and each of their previous three games. The Pistons have averaged a lofty 107.4 points per game in their last five contests. Unfortunately during that same time frame, they’ve allowed opponents to convert on a robust 45.5% of their three point attempts.

Denver has gone over the total in all of its previous five games, and there was a combined average of 217.4 points scored per contest. The Nuggets are also 15-5 over the number in their last twenty home games, and are 11-2 over the total (220.1 PPG) at home this season when the number is 200.0 or more.

Detroit has allowed 111 points or more in each of their last three games. Denver is coming off of a 102-101 loss to Memphis in its previous game. NBA odds posted at Bovada have a total of 207.0 on this contest. The combination of this statistical data qualifies for an extremely profitable NBA betting algorithm.

Any road team with a total of 200.0 to 209.5, and they allowed 100 points or more in each of their last three games, versus an opponent coming off a loss by 3 points or less, resulted in those games going 40-12 (76.9%) over the total during the past five seasons. The average total in those 52 contests was 204.5, and there were 214.1 points scored per game. As a matter of fact, 34 of those 52 (66.7%) went over the total by 7.0 points or more. This outstanding betting angle was vital in making one of my NBA picks on Saturday.
