Our NBA odds analyst shares his two top totals picks on Saturday’s card. Go inside to find out what those picks are and why he’s chosen them.

Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons 7:05 PM ET
Boston has gone 3-1 over the total during its previous four contests, and averaged a robust 208.0 points scored per game. The Celtics played at Detroit just ten days ago (12/16) and lost that contest 119-116. That game easily sailed over the total of 198.5.

Detroit has gone over the total in six of their previous seven games. They’ve also exceeded the total in seven of their last eight home games. The Pistons average a healthy 104.5 points scored per game at “The Palace in Auburn Hills”.

Each of these teams love to play an up tempo style. Both teams average an identical 89 field goal attempts per game, and that’s a high number even by NBA standards. I like this game to be a high scoring affair, and one of my Saturday NBA picks will be reflective of that forecast.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Phoenix Suns 9:05 PM ET
There are nights that Philadelphia has trouble shooting the ball into the ocean. On the other hand, Phoenix has been involved in a plethora of high scoring games this season. However, that trend has subsided of late, evidenced by Phoenix going 6-2 under the total during its last eight games. Even so, I’m going to have a contrarian approach when evaluating the total pertaining to this contest. Current (10:05 AM ET) NBA odds displays a total of 204.5 on this contest.

Philadelphia has gone 5-1 over the total in its previous six games. During that stretch, they allowed 112.3 points per game, and their opponents shot a sizzling 52.1% from the floor.

Phoenix has allowed 101 points or more in nine of their last ten games. The Suns have averaged ten three-point makes per game this season, and have also allowed nine per contest.

The Suns enter today with a 12-19 record (.387), and has gone 1-3 ATS in its past four games. The 76ers have lost twelve games in a row, and they’re on a record pace for NBA futility with a horrendous 1-30 record thus far.

Any home team (Suns) with a total of 200.0 to 209.5, and has failed to cover in three of its previous four games, possessing a winning percentage of .250 to 400, versus an opponent (76ers) with a losing record, resulted in those games going 22-7 (75.9%) over the total during the past three seasons.
