Our NBA handicapping professional shares his two top totals on Sunday’s slate. Go inside to find out what those NBA picks are, and why he’s opted to bet on them.

L.A. Clippers vs. Toronto 6:05 PM ET
The Clippers have averaged a robust 113.0 points per game over its last five contests. During that stretch, they’ve shot a sizzling 43.6% from beyond the three point line, and averaged 13 made threes per game. Unfortunately, the Clippers have also allowed their opponents to convert 39.8% of their long distance tries during that same time frame. Another concern for the Clippers defensively, opponents are averaging a sizable 32 free throw attempts per game against them over their last five outings. That’s not good news considering Toronto has made an excellent 79.5% of their free throws this season.

Toronto has gone 14-5 (73.7%) over the total this season versus opponents with a winning record. The Raptors have also surpassed the number in four of its last five and 12 of their previous 17 games. During their last five outings, Toronto has averaged 108.4 points scored per game, shot a stellar 49.5% from the field, and a sizzling hot 42.0% from three point territory. In that same time span, their defense has left a lot to be desired, allowing opponents to shoot 47.3% from the field, and convert on 42.3% of its three point attempts.

This game shapes up to be a high scoring and entertaining contest. One of my NBA picks on Sunday will follow that exact school of thought.

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers 7:05 PM ET
Boston has seen seven of its last eight, and each of their last five games go over the total. They’ve managed to score 103 points or more in seven straight, and tallied 109 or better on six of those occasions. On a negative note, the Celtics have allowed 110.8 points per game over its previous five contests.

After being anemic offensively for a majority of the first half of the season, Philadelphia has shown signs of life in that regards of late. The 76ers have averaged 108.5 points per game, and shot a more than respectable 47.8% from the floor during their last four outings. They’re 13-6 over the total at home this season, and that includes 6-2 during its last eight played in the “City of Brotherly Love”.

The most intriguing part of this matchup is the pace in which both teams have chosen to play recently. The last five Boston games have averaged a combined 181 field goal attempts per contest. Philadelphia has all of a sudden shown a willingness to speed the tempo, averaging 86 field goal attempts per contest in its previous four, and they’ll have a more than willing dance partner on Sunday with Boston.

Current NBA odds at Pinnacle lists a total of 207.0 on this game. Despite that fairly lofty number for a contest involving the 76ers, I’m still calling for plenty of points to be scored in this one.
