Our NBA handicapping professional shares his top two NBA picks on Tuesday's card. Go inside to give yourself a sizable betting edge in betting these games.

Orlando Magic vs. Philadelphia 76ers 7:05 PM ET
Orlando is 9-4 over the total during its last thirteen games. The Magic has also seen six of their previous seven road games go over the total, and they allowed 107 points or more in each of those contests. Orlando has really pushed the tempo of late, averaging a lofty 92 field goal attempts per game during its last five outings.

Philadelphia has gone over the total in each of its last three contests, and there was a combined average of 230.3 points scored per game. They allowed 114 points or more in all three of those outings, and opponents combined to shoot an alarming 49.8% during that stretch. In that same time period, the 76ers have scored 103 points or more on each occasion, and shot a stellar 48.8%. Philadelphia is coming off a 129-103 loss at Dallas in their previous game. The 76ers have gone over the total in all seven home games this season following a loss by 20 points or more.

Current (10:55 AM ET) NBA betting odds clearly provides me with the most favorable number for this specific NBA pick.

Houston Rockets vs. Utah Jazz 9:05 PM ET
Let’s get this out of the way first for the sake of argument. Houston is 12-3 over the total during its last fifteen games. There’s certainly a misconception, and understandably so, that the Rockets are a fast paced team. However, they average a somewhat mediocre 83 field goal attempts per game this season, and Houston usually allows opponents to dictate the tempo of their games. As a matter of fact, Houston had 78 field goal attempts or less in three of its previous four games. The Rockets shooting percentages have been less than stellar of late. They’ve shot just 42.7%, converted on only 31.4% of their three point attempts, and were a terrible 64.2% from the free throw line during its last five games. Houston has also held opponents to just 41.8% shooting over that same time frame.

Utah games have statistically panned out as the slowest paced of any NBA team this season. The Jazz contests have averaged only a combined 159 field goal attempts per outing. They’ve especially played at a slow tempo at home. Utah has allowed 96 points or less during their previous eight games played in Salt Lake City. The majority of their opponents low scores during that stretch are more a product of games being played at a snail’s pace, rather than a result of outstanding defensive efforts. They’ll be facing a Houston team tonight that allows a sizable 106.7 points per game this season. However, Utah is 14-6 (70%) under the number this season when facing an opponent allowing 103.0 or more points per contest. Those 20 games have averaged just a combined 187.8 points scored per outing.

Relative to the current total for this game tonight, I like this game to be a low scoring affair. One of my Tuesday NBA picks will back up that prediction.
