Our NBA handicapping professional shares his two top totals picks for Friday. Don’t make a NBA pick today without first reading this compelling betting preview article.

Washington Wizards vs. Boston Celtics 7:35 PM ET
The Wizards have scored an average of 110.0 points per game during its last three contests. They’ve been adept at getting to the free throw line in their first four games, averaging 29 attempts per contest, and converting on a pretty decent 76.7% of those tries. The flip side to the equation is that they’re allowing 104.0 points per game.

The Boston Celtics have shown a willingness to play at a more up tempo pace thus far. They’re averaging a rather high 88 field goal attempts per contest. Boston is allowing 100.7 points per contest, opponents are averaging an alarming 14 offensive rebounds per outing against them, and their foes are also getting to the free throw line 28 times a game.

Considering Washington’s games are averaging a combined 208.5 points scored per contest, and Boston is at 200.7, the current NBA odds pertaining to this total makes no sense. If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, then it’s a duck.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Brooklyn Nets 7:35 PM ET
Brooklyn has allowed 101 points or more in all five games this season. They’ve gone over the total in both home games so far, and those averaged a combined 207.0 points scored. Their opponents (Bucks, Bulls) in those home tilts shot a sizzling 53.0% from the field, and an outstanding 45.1% from beyond the three point line.

The Lakers have gone over the total in three of their first four games, and there were a combined average of 223.4 points scored per contest. They’ve allowed 103 points or more in each of those games, and that includes 112 or more during three of the four. On a positive note, Los Angeles averages a very high 32 free throw attempts per game, and they’re converting on a stellar 82.0% of those opportunities.

I like this game to be a high scoring affair. One of my NBA picks on Friday will reflect that prediction.
