When West meets East, the West is 169-103 SU in NBA betting odds. Here's our best pick for the battle between Denver Nuggets vs. Detroit Pistons in Motown tonight.

Denver Nuggets vs. Detroit Pistons (-6) 7:35 ET
The Western Conference representative, Denver Nuggets, meet the Detroit Pistons in Motown tonight at 7:35 ET. In over the last 200 games, however, the West is just 92-121 ATS against Eastern rivals. Look for the East to score another pointspread victory in this matchup of teams headed opposite directions.  Though this is a matchup of what many consider to be also ran teams in their respective conferences, it is clear from current form that Detroit is the value side in this game.  Let’s look at the specifics of why we are following the momentum in this game

Check out Joe Gavazzi's other NBA pick for today: Cavaliers vs. Pacers.

Under HC Brian Shaw, the Nuggets have been a peripatetic team.  Currently, they are on a downer of 1-11 SU, 3-9 ATS.  This has dropped them to 19-31 SU for the season with a record of just 7-18 SU on the road, where they have a mark of 3-10 ATS as single digit road dog.   Key issues have come on the offensive end, where the Nuggets have averaged just 94 PPG on 41% shooting in their previous 10 games.  A -7 rebound margin in that span spells major problems against a rugged Detroit front line.  Keep in mind before placing your NBA picks on Denver that now standing 8 ½ games out of the 8th spot for the playoffs, it’s time for the Nuggets to toss the towel!

Detroit is a reborn team, who has turned things around in the last month.  Their 19-31 SU mark leaves them just 2 ½ games out of the 8th position in the Eastern playoff queue.  This has sparked new life in this Pistons team.  Detroit struggled badly on their home court in the earlier part of the season.  But after going 5-15 ATS in their first 20 home games, Detroit has turned things around to cover their most recent 4/5 games on this court. It was hypothesized that the Detroit momentum would be derailed when PG Jennings was lost for the season to injury.  But, PG Augustine has filled the void admirably.  In the last 3 contests, Augustine has averaged 22 PPG with 10 assists, leading Detroit to home victories on this court vs. Houston by 13 and Miami by 17.

In a battle of 2 teams headed opposite directions, we must play the momentum of Detroit on this court against a Denver team who has clearly lost their way.
