Both teams might be tired, having played Tuesday night, but the offenses for San Antonio and Los Angeles could offset the fatigue. Wagering on the total in this matchup might make sense.

Neither San Antonio nor Los Angeles has been great at cashing the "over" on the second night of a back to back this season, but that could change in the first half of tonight's matchup.

Although both teams played Tuesday night, they both have pretty good offenses.

Lonzo Ball might not play for the Lakers, but L.A. would still have plenty to throw at a Spurs team coming off a very tough loss to the Clippers. The Lakers have nothing to lose; they've already been eliminated from the playoffs, but they also can’t get a better draft spot by losing out.

So the Lakers have resorted to playing spoilers as the bad -- but not very bad -- team in the West. They have been doing this by playing super fast since the All-Star break, especially in the first half of games. Since the break the Lakers have played at a pace of nearly 102 possessions per game, but if you isolate the first half of those games, their pace increases to nearly 104.

The Lakers also own an offensive rating of 110.8 over their last 20 first halves since the break, so the first-half total on the NBA odds board is attractive. Considering L.A. is averaging 54 first-half points and giving up 57 over their last five first halves, I like the "over" for these two tired teams in my NBA picks.
