It’s time to release my final NBA Picks of the day of 2014! We have a slightly full slate of NBA action throughout the afternoon and evening, so follow along as I have found two NBA Odds that hold good value!

Knicks vs. Clippers
A 3 PM start out on California is one of the first games to tip off this afternoon/evening, and the Knicks are coming into town as a +13 underdog in the NBA odds, with a total of 206. The Clippers barely hung on to the game against the Jazz this past Monday night, however tonight against the Knicks might be a different story for this team. Utah is an improving team on both ends of the court, but the Knicks are getting worse as the season goes on. Their defense is lessening, and so is their health, and against a high-flying team like the Clippers, that spells bad news. New York is going to try and play a slow paced game here, but against a team like LA, it’s going to be very hard to control the clock. The battle between Carmelo Anthony and the stars in LA should be a good one, and while Anthony will likely keep them in the game for a while, I expect the Clippers to cover here.

However despite all of this, I’m actually going with a play on the under for my NBA pick. The Clippers might be a good ATS play here, but they are also only 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. However the under is 5-2-2 in the Clippers’ last nine games, and the under is 4-0-2 for the Clippers in their last six home games. The Knicks have cashed the under at 4-1 in their last five games against teams with winning percentages above 60%, and while the Knicks are big on cashing the over on the road, I think the early-afternoon game in LA is going to throw these guys some. We have seen countless afternoon games become lower scoring games because the guys aren’t used to playing at that time.

Free NBA Pick: UNDER 206

Hornets vs. Rockets
The Hornets are struggling, and they have to go into Houston tonight, a place where struggling teams normally lose. The Rockets are coming off a home loss to the Wizards on Monday night, so they will definitely want to get back on track with a lesser Eastern Conference team coming to town. The NBA odds have the Rockets as -12 home favorites, with a total of 193 ½.

The Hornets are going to be without their star big man, Al Jefferson tonight after he strained his groin badly the other night. Reports from NBC Sports have him out as long as a month, which could literally kill any momentum the Hornets were starting to build, and it almost certainly kills their playoff chances.

The Rockets (and other teams for that matter) are going to crush the Hornets now that they don’t have ay post presence. They lacked defense down there already, and now with no inside offense, the Hornets are dead in the water. The intense defense and up-tempo game of the Rockets is going to run the Hornets right out of the gym tonight, and that’s why I’m laying the points. The Rockets are 7-3 ATS following a SU loss this season, while the Hornets are already 6-9 ATS against the West this season, and that is about to get way worse.
