Our NBA handicapping professional breaks down the betting odds for Game 2 of the series between the Atlanta Hawks and the Brooklyn Nets match on Wednesday.

Nets Attempt to Even Series with Hawks on Wednesday
The Atlanta Hawks will look to open up a 2-0 series lead on Wednesday when they host the Brooklyn Nets at 7:05 PM ET. According to the NBA odds, Atlanta is a 10.0 point favorite, and the posted total is 202.0. The Hawks won the opening game of the series 99-92, failed to cover as an 11.0 point favorite, and the contest went under the total of 204.5. Atlanta has won all five games played against Brooklyn this season by an average of 15.0 points per contest. Three of those five contests went over the total, and the average points combined scored was 206.8.

Here's our Earliest Picks for Nets vs. Hawks NBA Playoffs Series

Game One Recap
The Nets inability to make a decent percentage of their free throw attempts may have ultimately cost them an upset in Game 1. Brooklyn went 15-22 (68.2%) compared to Atlanta being an excellent 21-22 (95.5%). The Nets also went a poor 5-25 (20%) from beyond the three-point line, and although the Hawks didn’t convert from long distance at a very high percentage (33.3%), they did knock down ten three-pointers in the game. One area the Nets did excel was on the boards where they held a 52-44 rebounding advantage.

Nets Need to Steal One on the Road
If the Nets are to having any glimmer of hopes for an upset in this series, obviously at some point that have to win one on the road. The Nets have been a fairly respectable 19-23 straight up and 24-18 ATS in away games this season. Although they’ve lost all three games in Atlanta, they’ve managed to cover in two of those contests.

Home Court Dominance by Hawks
Atlanta has gone a terrific 36-6 at home this season, and was also a profitable 26-16 ATS in those contests. They’re averaging 103.4 points per game, shooting a stellar 47.5% from the field, and 38.1% from behind the three-point line  in those forty two games.

Final Analysis
The Nets have held a rebounding edge in four of their five games versus Atlanta. If they can shoot the ball at a decent percentage, and continue to have a decisive edge against the Hawks on the boards, they’ll be able to hang in this game throughout the duration. I’m going to have a small lean on the underdog in this contest as one of my NBA picks for Wednesday.
