The Blazers have been playing better on both ends this season, but against the fastest paced team in the NBA tonight, Portland may succumb to an up and down style of play – especially in the first half.

So far this season the Nets are averaging nearly 112 points per game, but it’s mostly because of their torrid pace of more than 106 possessions per game. That easily tops the NBA, and you know going on the road they will try to establish their style of play.

Whether that strategy works for all four quarters remains to be seen. However, for at least the first half, there is some evidence, and some value from the sportsbooks allowing us to take advantage of the nightcap.

The Blazers are playing at a pace of 97.2 possessions per game, which ranks 18th to start the season. Just to put that into perspective, last season they ranked 14th last season with a slower pace of 96.7. While we’re working with a small sample size to start the year, it goes to show you how things are changing in the NBA when it comes to totals and total betting.

For tonight, however, the numbers from NBA.com indicate that the Blazers play at a pace of more than 101 possessions per game in the first half. That has led to them allowing almost 54 points per first half.

Against a team like the Nets who love to run, I am also in love – with the first half total of just 107 points on the NBA odds. Money will be made tonight with this number, and I’m not missing out.
