Our NBA consultant likes two totals on Sunday’s relatively small card. Join us in reading this compelling betting preview article which details exactly why he’s opted for these picks.

Golden State Warriors vs. Denver Nuggets 8:05 PM ET
These teams have gone 4-1 over the total in their five encounters since the start of last season. The Warriors scored 116 points or more in four of those five meetings. Denver also scored 104 or more in four of the five games.  They’ve met once already this season, Golden State came away with a 117-104 home win, and the game easily went over the total of 211.0.

In six road games this season, Golden State (14-0) is averaging 117.0 points per contest, shooting 49.2% from the floor, and that includes a sizzling hot 42.1% from beyond the three point line. Their last two away games were versus the Clippers and Timberwolves. Those two contests averaged a combined 243.0 points scored per game. Golden State is coming off a 106-94 home win over Chicago in their previous game.

Denver (6-7) has gone over the total in each of their previous three games, and there was a combined average of 213.7 points scored per outing. The Nuggets are averaging a respectable 100.2 points per game this season. Their issues have come on the defensive end of the floor. They’re allowing an average of 103.9 points per game, and opponents are converting on relatively high 38.8% of their three point attempts against them.

Any road team (Golden State) with a total of 210.0 or more, coming off a home win, and has a win percentage of .750 or better, versus an opponent (Denver) with a losing record, resulted in those games going 26-6 (81.3%) over the total since 1996. The average total in those contests was 217.8, and there was a combined average of 228.1 points scored per game.

According to the current (10:40 AM ET) NBA betting odds at Heritage they offer me a best combination of number and price for this specific wager.

NBA Pick: Play on OVER the total of 213.5 (-105) at Heritage

Portland Trailblazers vs. Los Angeles Lakers 9:35 PM ET
This will be the first meeting of the season between these Western Conference teams. They saw all four of their encounters go under the total a season ago, and there was a combined average of only 191.0 points scored per game.

Portland has gone 3-1 under the total in their previous four games, and shot a poor 40.6% from the field during that stretch. They’re coming off a 102-91 win against as a 4.5 point home underdog against the Clippers in their previous game.

The Lakers have gone 7-1 under the total in their previous 8 games. During that time frame, Los Angeles scored 101 points or less on each occasion, and also allowed 102 points or less in seven of those eight games. The Lakers have steadily improved defensively in recent games, and they’ve held their previous five opponents to just a combined 41% shooting from the field.

Any road team (Portland) with a total of 200.0 to 209.5, and is coming off a straight up underdog win by 10 points or more, resulted in those games going 46-18 (71.9%) under the total during the past five seasons. I like this game to play on the low side of the number for one of Sunday’s NBA picks.

NBA Pick: Play on UNDER the total of 203.5 at The Greek
