Our NBA guru gives his two top totals picks on Tuesday’s opening night card. Don’t make a NBA pick on the Cleveland vs. Chicago & Detroit vs. Atlanta games without first reading this betting preview.

Tuesday NBA Totals
The NBA regular season gets under way on Tuesday night. I’m going to be sharing my NBA picks which pertain to a pair of totals on tonight’s games. Included will be my brief analysis as to why I like each of these selections. It’s worth noting, I always tread lightly with my NBA wagers this early in the season. My rule of thumb has always been to at least see a minimum of 5 games played by a team before making an accurate assessment. Having said that let the games begin!

Cleveland vs. Chicago 8:05 PM ET
This will be a rematch of last season’s NBA Eastern Conference Playoff series that saw Cleveland win in six games. That series saw a split of 3-3 on the totals. These teams also met four times during the 2014-2015 regular season campaign, and there was a 2-2 split on those totals as well. Three of the five combined games played in Chicago went over the total.

The Cavaliers will be without star point guard Kyrie Irving tonight who’s out indefinitely from a knee injury. They’ll also be without three point sharpshooter Iman Shumpert who is out for an indefinite period of time with a wrist ailment.

There’s a degree of uncertainty as to what style of play Chicago will embark on under new head coach Fred Hoiberg. Based on what we witnessed from his teams at Iowa State, you would have to think that Chicago will play a more up tempo style compared to when former head coach Tom Thibodeau was in control.
NBA Pick: Take Cleveland and Chicago under 197.5 at Pinnacle

Detroit vs.  Atlanta 8:05 PM ET
There’s obviously not a lot to go on in regards to this specific matchup. In their two regular season meetings played at Atlanta last season, both contests went under the total. However, according to the NBA betting odds at, I’m seeing some curious reverse movement on this total. The number opened at 197.5, and despite 60.4% of wager going on the under, the total has risen to 199.5. I’m going to follow the sharp money pertaining to this total.
NBA Pick: Take Detroit and Atlanta over 199.5 at The Greek
