Our NBA capper provides us with his two best totals picks Sunday. Don’t make a move on the Portland/Charlotte & Boston/Oklahoma City games without first reading this betting preview.

Portland Trailblazers vs. Charlotte Hornets 5:05 PM ET
Portland has gone over the total in each of their previous seven games. They’ve scored 100 points or more in all of those contests, and have allowed 101 points or more in each of its last four. During their last five outings, Portland is allowing opponents to shoot a sizzling 49.3% from the field.

Charlotte has averaged a robust 105.7 points per game in three home contests this season. One of those games included a 130 point explosion against Chicago during a blowout win. Speaking of Chicago, Charlotte is coming off a 102-97 road loss to the Bulls on Friday night.

Any road team (Portland) with a total of 200.0 to 209.5, coming off three straight games in which they allowed 100 points or more, and is facing an opponent (Charlotte) coming off a loss by 6 points or less, resulted in those games going 32-9 (78%) over the total during the past five seasons. Those 41 contests had an average total of 204.6, and there were a combined average of 214.5 points scored per game. As a matter of fact, 62.5% of those games went over the total by 7.0 points or more.

I like this contest to be an entertaining high scoring affair for one of my NBA picks on Sunday.

NBA Pick: Play on OVER the total of 204.0 (-105) at 5Dimes

Boston Celtics vs. Oklahoma City Thunder 8:05 PM ET
If you don’t believe that both of these teams like to push the tempo, all you have to do is look at the box scores of their previous games. The Celtics are coming off a 106-93 win over Atlanta, and had 103 field goal attempts in that contest. The Thunder defeated Philadelphia 102-85 during their last game, and they hoisted up 97 field goal attempts. They also held the 76ers to 34.9% shooting from the field which is a pertinent statistic that’s applicable to Sunday’s game. Each of those numbers is extremely high even by NBA standards.

Any home team (OKC) with a total of 210.0 or more, and they held their previous opponents to 35% or less shooting from the field, resulted in those games going 23-4 (85.2%) over the total since 1996. The average total in those contests was 215.2, and there were a combined averaged of 224.2 points scored per game. Current NBA betting odds at Bookmaker.com provides me with the best number for this specific wager.
