We improved our NBA preseason record above .500 after a pair of wins last night and I’m looking to add to your bankroll with another NBA preseason pick tonight between the Hawks and Bulls. The NBA Odds from 5Dimes has Chicago as a -3 favorite with a total of 197 points.

NBA Preseason Record: 5-4

How Do The Coaches Play This Game?

The NBA preseason is a lot like the NFL preseason. Knowing how to predict how coaches will treat a specific game can be the difference between winning and losing your NBA Picks.

The Bulls have not played since Monday and tonight represents their preseason finale in Omaha.. The Hawks, on the other hand, played two nights ago and Thursday is their final preseason game before their opener as well.

So, with that in mind, will both teams bench starters, or will they play this one as another regular season dress rehearsal? The Hawks played all their starters only about 24 minutes in their most recent game, while the Bulls did basically the same thing in their game Monday.

If we can expect something similar tonight, it could come down to the benches. While the Hawks have some nice depth, the Bulls are the deeper team and they have the need to play their starters more. With talented big man Bobby Portis eating up opposing benches this preseason and the talented Jerian Grant running the point, the Hawks’ bench stands little chance of beating the Bulls in this preseason finale.

There is also the possibility the Hawks rest some of their starters in this one. We don’t know anything for sure and likely won’t until close to tip-off, but my gut is telling me the Hawks might pack it in for this one. They have generally looked pretty good in the preseason and they may not want to risk injury this close to the season.

The Bulls need to work out this new look backcourt and I could see them playing another 20+ minutes tonight to try and gear up for the regular season.

The Sharp Pick

My guess is Paul Millsap will play in this one, but other Hawks veterans like Kyle Korver and Dwight Howard might sit this one out. My guess is the Hawks play their other starters long enough to get some work in, but not long enough to win or cover.

The Bulls, on the other hand, have three new starters that they need to integrate and I see them trying to continue that. Hopefully, they can build a lead doing that, but even if they don’t, I have faith in the Bulls’ young bench players to get the job done here.
