Let's take a look at the Detroit Pistons visiting the Toronto Raptors. Oddsmakers have made the Raptors a decent home favorite and they just beat the Pistons in one of their final pre-season games by 11. Can SVG and the Pistons hang better with Toronto tonight? Read more to find the best NBA pick of this matchup.

Detroit Pistons

Last season Detroit averaged 101.6 points per game and averaged 56 total rebounds ranking them 19th and 2nd respectively.  I like for the Pistons to make the jump this year and make some noise in the East as they have one of the best players in the game in Andre Drummond and a nice core around him. The bench is better than last year so the depth is there to improve on their 44 wins last season and I really like the pickup of Tobias Harris from the Magic. Currently Reggie Jackson is out which will hurt them the next month until he gets back but Ish Smith is capable enough to run the offense and keep them competitive in this contest. Just last week when these two teams met most of the starters got plenty of minutes but Detroit did not shoot the three particularly well and for the most part just got outplayed. I believe SVG will make a couple tweaks and have this team fully prepared to bounce back from that loss and keep things closer tonight against a good Toronto squad.

Toronto Raptors

Last season Toronto allowed just 98.1 points per game which ranked fifth in the NBA but ranked second to last in assists per game at just 18.1 per contest. The Raptors had a nice defensive focus last year and it almost got them to the NBA final losing to the eventual champion Cavs in six games. For them to get back to the Eastern Conference championship they will have to repeat a stellar season and it looks like they have all the right pieces to do just that.  Anchored by Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozen along with some nice depth I will be surprised if they don't make a strong playoff push. Tonight however I think they will have a couple tough matchups against the Pistons and beating a quality team two times in a row is never easy. As well, don't be surprised if the Raptors are peaking ahead just a bit to hosting the Cavs on Friday.

Final Analysis

Oddsmakers have the Pistons as a +7.5 underdog across the board with some of the best sportsbooks at SBR at lower juice. For my NBA pick I am going to back Detroit +7.5. Pistons should keep this game tight from start to finish.
