With a big win over San Antonio on the road the Los Angeles Clippers are beginning to look like a team to contend with in the Western Conference. Today they take on the Detroit Pistons in what should be a solid defensive affair. Has Los Angeles been made too big of a favorite?

Detroit Pistons

Detroit comes in averaging 100.5 points per game while allowing just 93 points per game which ranks them 21st and second in the league respectively. Defensively they have come out playing extremely well and currently rank number one in the league in opponent shooting efficiency, second in opponent effective field-goal percentage, and third in opponent overall shooting percentage. With Los Angeles also stepping up things defensively this has all the makings of probably a pretty low-scoring affair. Both teams rebound the ball very well and both teams have been good at controlling tempo. Currently, Detroit is without Reggie Jackson and so I don't really think they can win this game but the number seems a little bit big in my opinion. Last season Los Angeles won both games but only by a combined seven points. With the way the Clippers shot the ball versus San Antonio I think this line has been a little bit inflated. Detroit is good enough across the board to stay within the number.

Los Angeles Clippers

Los Angeles is averaging102.7 points per game while allowing just 90.7 per game which ranks them 15th and first in the NBA respectively. If they can keep up this type of pace on the defensive end they will have to be considered a serious threat to win the Western Conference, but it is still way too early in the season to make a serious assessment. Currently, Los Angeles ranks first in opponent field goals made per game and second in opponent overall shooting percentage and efficiency. Offensively they have been good, not great, shooting 45.5% from the field which ranks them in the top 10. This is a really good Los Angeles team and I backed them when they traveled to San Antonio, but that was due to the matchup and the fact San Antonio was traveling back home off a back to back, so it was a good spot. Tonight, however, Detroit should come in pretty fresh and make this game interesting from start to finish. The defense should rule the day so I will grab the points.

Detroit Pistons vs L.A. Clippers

Oddsmakers have made Detroit a +8.5 underdog across the board like at pinnacle sports -105. For my NBA pick I'm going to take Detroit in this spot and although they probably won't win the should keep this game close.
