It’s another big day of prop betting action in the NBA odds board, as the Raptors try and salvage this series tonight when they head back home to play the Cavaliers in Game 3.
Game 3 Alternate Spread
For our first prop we travel over to Bovada sportsbook for a look at the alternate point spread for this crucial game. Right now the sportsbooks seem split on the regular spread for this game, as they have the Cavs anywhere from -5, all the way up to -6½ favorites in this game. With the way the Cavs have been playing this may seem like a bargain, so most people will be moving this spread up tonight in order to get more value on if the Cavs blow them out once again,
However, the Raptors are a different team at home, and while they won’t have Jonas Valanciunas back yet for Game 3, Toronto played well in Game 2 in Cleveland. If it weren’t for a Kyle Lowry meltdown and letting things get out of hand at the end of the 2nd quarter, Toronto would have stayed in that game longer. Instead they let things get away from them in the 2nd and 4th quarters, and ended up losing by double figures once again.
However, while it may not be the sexiest of NBA picks, I am just looking to cash tonight, so I am heading over to Bovada and taking the alternate spread of -3½ (-150) in favor of the Cavaliers tonight. The trip to Toronto might not hurt them that much, but it will hurt them some, and it’s too early to tell whether that may mean they’ll drop a game.
With all the talk of a sweep and how Lowry lost focus last game, I bet the Raptors come out swinging in this must-win game. In their eyes they have yet to lose a game this series until they lose one at home, so I expect we see the best of the Raptors in this one.
At home this season, the Raptors were very good, especially against the Cavs and as home underdogs. Toronto was 2-0 ATS and SU against the Cavs when playing at the Air Canada Center this season, and they were the best team in the entire league when playing as a home underdog at 5-1 ATS. Considering they lost only 11 games at home this season, it may finally be time for them to cash at home here. That’s the main reason I am playing it safe with this one with the Cavs at -3½. When it wasn’t Game 1, the Raptors are undefeated at home in the playoffs, and while they lost Game 1 in this series on the road, they are also undefeated in Game 3’s in this postseason.
Therefore, considering the spread is already at -5 in NBA Odds by some shops, the sportsbooks seem to agree with me. That being said, take the safe route with this game and don’t put too much faith in another Cavs blowout. The Raptors might surprise is all tonight.
