Although the Timberwolves have lost 5 out of their last 6 there is a reason why NBA odds makers have not made the spread bigger when they take the underdog role in Phoenix.

NBA Pick: Minnestota Timberwolves ATS
Best Line Offered: +5 (+102) at Pinnacle

NBA odds
Odds makers have made Minnesota the underdog from +4.5 to +5 across the NBA Odds Board. Right now they are at +5 at Pinnacle Sports +102 which I think is good value on a much improved team. Even though Phoenix is in a bounce back spot after their loss to Portland just the other night, for my NBA pick of the day I'm going to take the Timberwolves plus the five points.

Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves are averaging 102.4 points per game while shooting 44.6% from the field, and allowing 103.3 points per game on 44.9% shooting from the field. They have cooled off a bit from their pretty hot start losing, as mentioned, five of their last six. Still, they have improved a lot this year and they have the talent to hang with a lot of teams in the NBA. Defensively, their doing a nice job defending the perimeter allowing just 34.2% shooting from distance which ranks 13th in the league. Also, they're just simply defending better all-around allowing teams just an average of 20 assists per game which ranks fourth in the NBA. Offensively, Andrew Wiggins has really started to come into his own as an NBA player and is averaging over 20 points per game. As a team they rank ninth in scoring and their shooting percentage from the field ranks 12th, nothing to shout about but overall improved on this end of the floor from last year. They don't push tempo quite as much as they did last year and they don't shoot the three very well which is something they will have to improve in order to make the playoffs next season or the next season after. They do get to the line though, and rank first in the NBA at 22.8 free throws made per game.

Phoenix Suns
Phoenix is averaging 105.2 points per game while shooting 45.2% from the field, and allowing 105.2 points per game on 46.7% from the field. Statistically it is easy to see where the problem is with this team on the defensive end as they rank as one of the worst teams in the NBA in some of the most important statistics. I like how they rely on their stellar guards Eric Bledsoe, and Brandon Knight, and overall offensively they are a very dangerous team. Beyond the arc they average 38.4% which ranks third in the NBA, but they're also tough inside as they average 43.3 points per game in the paint which ranks ninth. The issue has been defensively where the Suns rank 26th in defensive scoring, 29th in opponent shooting percentage, and 27th in opponent shooting percentage from distance.  This Phoenix team definitely has some talent, but for them to be a playoff like caliber team they're simply going to have to improve on defense.

This is good value on a young but talented Minnesota team, and for one of your NBA Picks I recommend taking the Timberwolves plus the points. Neither team has played particularly well in their last several games and the way these teams matchup suggest this game has a good chance to g
