NBA Playoff time is here and we’ll have all the games covered by the warmest blanket in the closet. In this article, we’ll break down Game 1 of the series between Washington and Toronto on Saturday, and we’ll culminate our betting preview article with a point-spread selection.
NBA Playoffs Game 1 Wizards/Raptors in Early Saturday Start Time
The Toronto Raptors will host the Washington Wizards on Saturday at 12:35 PM ET in the start of their series. The game will be aired nationally by ESPN. According to the NBA odds at Bookmaker, Toronto is a 4.0 point favorite, and the posted total is 193.5. Toronto has defeated Washington in all three meetings this season and covered in two of the three. These teams have seen five of their last six encounters in Toronto go under the total.
News from Washington
The Washington Wizards finished the regular season by going 6-8 in their final fourteen games, and lost six of last eight on the road. As a matter of fact, Washington was a rather unimpressive 17-24 SU&ATS on the road this season, especially considering they’re the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference. My assessment of the Wizards is that they’re a very talented team which has been terribly inconsistent. One night they can resemble one of the top five teams in the NBA, and then they could go on stretches where you wonder if they’re a draft lottery team. Case in point, since the last week of January, Washington has endured losing streaks of four games or more on three separate occasions.
Put up or Shut up Time for Raptors
The Toronto Raptors should have no excuses in finally being able to advance beyond the first round of the NBA Playoffs. They possess home court advantage, were a solid 27-14 this season at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, and will be facing an opponent they’ve had success with during the 2014-2015 NBA campaign. The Raptors won four of their last five game of the regular season, and have built a bit of momentum heading into the playoffs. Toronto has averaged 104.0 points per game this season, and they’ll be facing an opponent (Washington) on Saturday that’s gone a dismal 6-15 ATS on the road, versus teams that average 99-points or more per game.
I like the way the Raptors finished the regular season much more than the fashion in which the Wizards did. In an opening game of what’s deemed to be a fairly evenly matched series, I’m going to have a slight lean toward the small home favorite for one of my NBA picks on Saturday.
