Cavs vs. Pistons
For Detroit and Cleveland, both of these teams are looking forward to a long vacation starting in a few weeks, but with business left to take care of, the NBA Odds have the Pistons as solid -5 ½ favorites here, with a total of 204 ½.
The Cavs are still without Kyrie Irving even though he has ramped up his basketball activities recently, and after getting a huge win against the Raptors last night in Cleveland, will the Cavs continue their momentum tonight, or will they fall flat after their close win?
The Cavs have been solid ATS this season playing on no rest, and at 10-7 ATS, I can bet that some will look at that trend and take points with Cleveland here. It might not be a bad idea with how badly the Pistons have been playing, but I am looking at another wagering possibility for this game. With the Cavs coming off the back to back, it looks as if the total may be more valuable.
At 204 ½, the total looks to offer the best value for our NBA picks. The Pistons are the number one over cashing team in the NBA this season at 46-24, and playing the Cavs on the second night of a back to back should improve their offensive chances. The Cavs are also 10-7 cashing the over on the second night of a back to back this season.
Pistons will have a distinct advantage on the inside, and at guard as well. It
will be very hard for the Cavs to stop Detroit from scoring at home. If
Cleveland is tired like I think they are, this game should be up in pace, and
have less defense than the Ukrainian Army (Too soon?).
My Pick: OVER 204 ½
Grizzlies vs. Jazz
The late game on tonight is the Grizzlies still fighting for a playoff spot, and tonight they head into Salt Lake City to play the Jazz. The NBA Odds have the Grizzlies as -7 ½ road favorites here, with a total of 184 ½.
The Grizzlies are 7-5-1 ATS this season when playing as road favorites, and with the size advantage they have in the paint, I could easily see a big cover here for the Grizz. Memphis is in a virtual tie with the Mavs after last night for the 7th seed out West. Memphis is also only 1 ½ games behind the idle Warriors tonight, so winning this game easily is high on their priorities right now.
Even though this is the 25th time they have been a home underdog this season, the Jazz are only 10-13-1 ATS in that position. Plus Utah has gone only 14-19-1 ATS overall at home this season, which shouldn’t install much confidence into NBA bettors if they like taking points with the Jazz. After Gordon Hayward, the Jazz likely won’t have much success tonight scoring on Memphis. Even if Tony Allen misses the game again like he did on Monday, the Grizzlies still have plenty in their arsenal to win and cover against Utah on the road.
My Pick: Grizzlies -7 ½[gameodds]5/260057/?r-1=43-19-349/us[/gameodds]
