The Raptors went into Washington DC and took care of business against the Wizards last night, and now they are back at home welcoming in the Bulls. The NBA Odds have the Raptors as -2 ½ favorites tonight coming off the back to back, with a very low total of 183 points.
However even though the Raptors are playing on no rest tonight, they have been very successful doing so all season. Toronto is 7-4 ATS playing on no rest, and I fully expect that trend to continue tonight. The All Star Break should have helped with the rest factor for Toronto, and even though they are playing a Bulls team who just had almost a week off, I still see the Raptors winning.
This will be the fourth time these two have met up this season, and in the first three, the Raptors went 2-1 ATS. In fact the Raptors have been very good against the Bulls ATS in the last couple of seasons, going 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall meetings with Chicago either home or away.
Even though the Bulls were surging into the break, I doubt it continues tonight, even after all that time off. Chicago is also 7-4 ATS when playing on no rest this season, however with 2-3 days rest (the 4+ days rest category doesn’t have enough data) the Bulls are only 7-6 ATS. Toronto on the other hand has won ten of their last 12 home games SU, and I see them winning both SU and ATS tonight.
My Pick: Raptors -2 ½
The NBA Odds have these two teams very close tonight in Atlanta. Both played last night and coming off the back to back, the NBA Odds have the Hawks as -1 home favorites, with a total of 200 ½. Both teams are coming off losses, so which one will turn things around in this early evening game?
This year, Washington has been one of the better teams on the second night of a back to back, and I think that trend continues tonight. The Wizards are 8-5 ATS this season when playing on no rest, and I doubt being on the road is going to hurt them much here. Atlanta had to travel a little further last night after being beaten down by the Pacers in Indiana, so don’t overanalyze the travel from Washington as a deterrent from picking the Wizards tonight.
On top of being good on the second night of a back to back, the Wizards are the second best road ATS team in the NBA outside of the Suns. Washington is 18-8 ATS this season when playing away from the Verizon Center, and with their recent history against the Hawks, I bet they can continue their road dominance.
Washington has covered both meetings this year with Atlanta despite being only 1-1 SU against them this season. In fact they have also covered four in a row against the Hawks dating back to last season. The Hawks on the other hand have lost their last five games SU this season including last night, and they are 0-4-1 ATS against Washington in their last five overall meetings. When considering our NBA picks I’m seeing the Wizards as having both money line and spread value tonight.
My Pick: Wizards +1
