The NBA Odds for this one have the Clippers are -6 road favorites, with a total of right at 200 points. The Bobcats might have been a much smaller underdog in this one if it wasn’t for the injury to Kemba Walker, and without him for the next few weeks, the Cats are going to have a tough start to their second half offensively.
Walker’s offense has been huge for the team this season, as he is having a career year for the Cats. Without his 18 points per game, I see Charlotte struggling to score even on the Clippers who are not known for their defense.
The under has cashed in four of the last six times these two teams have faced one another, and for the Bobcats, being back at home should really improve their defensive numbers. The Cats are one of the best home defensive teams in the NBA this season, giving up only around 94 per game. The under has cashed in 14 of their 22 home games this season, and the under has also hit in 11 of their last 16 home games.
Even though the Bobcats’ defense hasn’t been great over their last ten games, six of those were on the road, where the Cats are almost a completely different team on that side of the ball. Despite giving up an average of 105 points per game over their last ten, I see the Cats turning things around tonight. Charlotte has cashed the under in eight of their 14 games against the Western Conference this season, and despite the Clippers being on a nice streak offensively, they are only averaging around 100 points per game against Eastern Conference opponents.
My Pick: UNDER 200
76ers vs. Knicks
These two teams have both been slumping recently, but for the Knicks, it’s much more surprising. The NBA Odds have New York as a -8 favorite at home, with a total of 203 ½. Even though both teams have been struggling offensively, they have also both been giving up a ton of points recently. This is why I see the over as the play.
For starters, the Knicks have started to slump again after their hot start to the year 2014. They have lost their last four games in a row SU, and even though their offense has been a huge issue during this stretch, their defense has been even worse. In those last four losses, the Knicks are giving up nearly 110 points per game on average.
The Sixers are not much better, in fact they may be worse. On the season the Sixers are giving up 110 points per game, and when they play teams like the Knicks in their division, things get ugly. The Sixers have played five division games this season, the over is 4-1 in those games, and the Sixers have given up an average of 114 points per game in those contests. The Sixers also give up nearly 10 three point shots per game, which the Knicks will surely take advantage of tonight.
Even with the offensive skids these teams are on, tonight against one another, they will surely turn things around. I’m taking the over and adding it to our NBA Picks.
My Pick: OVER 203 ½
