NBA Picks: Warriors vs. Sixers
With a short card tonight, we will have to find value carefully. With that said, I do think I have found some tonight in Philadelphia.
Even though it’s only been a week long, this road trip has been a beast for the Warriors. Out of the first four games of the five game trip, Golden State is only 1-3 SU and ATS during the trip. Tonight will be their fourth game in five nights, and their fifth game in seven nights, all on the road. At this point of the season, if you think the Warriors are going to play great basketball tonight, you’re wrong. I’m not saying they definitely won’t get the win, but they will be tired after four games in five nights.
One thing that has disappeared during this road trip has been the Warriors’ defense. If it even existed in the first place, it is all gone, as Golden State have given up an average of 102.5 points per game over their last four.
Tonight against the Sixers, things should get easier for them on defense, as Philadelphia is one of the worst offensive teams in the NBA, but after playing last night in Boston, the Warriors legs’ might be shot by the time game time rolls around. This all could be why the Sixers are favorites in this one, something that has only happened 24 times this season. Philadelphia is only 12-12 ATS as favorites this season, but only one point NBA Odds makes it much easier.
Doug Collins, man of constant sorrow
I like Doug Collins, and it sucks what has happened to him and his team over this season after their performance last year. The Sixers are an awful 22-34 SU on the season and 25-31 ATS. However, they have a chance at getting a much needed win tonight against a team that is probably running on fumes after the week of crazy scuffles, suspensions and four games in five nights.
The Sixers are even ATS when they play at home, and while they have had their issues on offense this season, they will still need their defense tonight against a tired team. The Warriors already have had 16 back-to-back games this season and tonight be number 17. They are used to playing on the second night of a back to back this season.
The Sharp Pick
As I stated above, in the 16 times the Warriors have played on consecutive nights this season, they have averaged nearly 107 points per game scored on that second night. Still without Andrew Bogut, and being as tired as any team in the NBA right now, I still like the over to cash tonight in Philadelphia.
I’m not concerned about Golden State’s scoring tonight even after they only put up 86 points last night in Boston. I also am not concerned about the Sixers scoring. Golden State is going to look more like their across-the-bay rivals on defense tonight, and I think 194 ½ is just a few points too low. I’m seeing a 99-97 type of score tonight, so add the over to your NBA Picks. Even if they don’t break their seven game losing streak tonight, the Sixers will be able to score in their own building, against a team on the back end of a painfully quick road trip.
