With a tremendous game five performance from Kyrie Irving and Lebron James the Cleveland Cavaliers have extended the NBA finals. Can the Cavs extend the series again?

The NBA Odds have come out making the Warriors a +2.5 underdog like at Pinnacle Sports -110. Although I liked how Cleveland played in game five for my NBA pick I will take the points with the Warriors. I expect them to win or at least take it down to the last shot.

Golden State Warriors
In game five the Warriors shot just 36% from the field and 33% from distance while turning the ball over 17 times. They looked a bit out of sync for most of the night and although they had a lot of open looks they just didn’t knock down a lot of shots. Add their open look misses to the fact the Cleveland was absolutely on fire and the result was right on target.

Of course with Green out they lost a bit more than most people probably anticipated including yours truly but ultimately I don’t think they played all that poorly for the most part. Unfortunately Bogut is out for this game six but he is not as impactful as missing Green and I like for the Warriors to shoot much better than they did in game five, even on the road.

One statistic that really jumps out is the fast break points as Cleveland outscored the Warriors 28-9 in that aspect. Defensively they simply couldn’t stop the hot shooting Cavs who took advantage of 41 point performances from both Irving and James.

It seems to me though the Warriors are coming into this game in a solid bounce back spot and should come in with some confidence. Beating the Cavs at home will be no easy task but they come in knowing they can play better at both ends of the floor, the Cavs probably won’t shoot as hot, and they have Green back in the lineup.

Cleveland Cavaliers
In game five the Cavs shot 53% from the floor and an incredible 42% from distance. It seemed to me every time they came down the court either James or Irving were pulling up for a jumper and it was dropping. However, this was not something I was imagining or just seeming that way, they really were doing that almost every time down the floor even with guys in their face going for over 80 points combined.

The issue I have in regards to today is that I don’t expect the Cavaliers to be as hot as that in this game six and on the other end for the Warriors to have some better consistency in making their own buckets.

As well, with their game five onslaught you might think that NBA odds makers would have made the Cavs a little bit bigger of a favorite but they are on top of this game making the line so small. Expect a reversal of fortunes tonight between these two talented teams and for the Warriors to at worst take this game to the final shot.
