Portland Trailblazers vs. Golden St. Warriors (-9) 10:35 ET TNT
At 10:35 ET, Portland Trailblazers travel to California to face the Golden St. Warriors for the 2nd game of the TNT doubleheader. A quick look at the standings shows that Golden State with a 63-15 record has secured home court advantage throughout the playoffs. The playoff situation for Portland is a bit more complicated. They are currently in a dogfight with Memphis, Houston, LA Clippers and San Antonio Spurs for a seed as high as No. 2.  What sets Portland apart from the others is that they have already claimed a division championship guaranteeing them a top 4 seed.  Due to the NBA’s complicated playoff rules and tiebreakers, Portland will NOT get home court advantage (despite the No. 4 seed), if their record is inferior to their opponent. Thus, there is plenty of motivation for the Blazers tonight. These teams have met twice this season, both in Portland, with the Warriors emerging with victories by scores of 95-90 and 122-108. Interesting side line from those games is that Golden St. outshot Portland 52-41%. Now that the venue has changed, it is worth noting that the Warriors are 15-3 SU at this site in this series.

Portland has struggled with numerous nagging injuries down the stretch to key contributors. For this game, however, all starters appear to be available, except shooting guard, Wesley Matthews, who was lost for the season (March 6th) to an Achilles injury. Portland struggled immediately after that Matthews’ injury, going 3-6 SU ATS. But since a 92-89 victory at Utah on March 25th and the return to health of key players, the Blazers enter tonight on a 7-2 SU, 6-3 ATS run. It is worth noting, however, that a 126-122 home loss to the LA Clippers was their only game against playoff competition in that timeframe.

Golden St. returns home following a 3-game road trip in which they lost the final 2 games to the hottest team in the league, San Antonio (107-92), and to the highly motivated Pelicans (103-100). Now, the best team in the NBA returns to the Bay Area, where they will finish the season with 4 home games. That is certainly meaningful to Golden St. supporters. For, it is on their home court where they are 35-2 SU including 25-11 ATS as home chalk. In those contests, they have averaged 113 PPG, knocking down 41% of their triples. This includes victories in their most recent 14 home games, dating to January 31st. Those games have resulted in a 10-4 ATS mark with wins by an average of 14 PPG.

Blazers’ recent surge is a bit phony, considering their level of competition. Add the Warriors to your NBA picks and expect a huge home court performance from Golden St., as they regain traction after 2 road losses and finish the campaign in style on their home court.
