It's no secret that the Warriors started the season in historic fashion winning their first 22 games.  But all good things come to an end and the Pacers are our NBA pick tonight to dethrone the champs.

Golden St. Warriors (-6) at Indiana Pacers 7:00 ET NBA TV
The Golden St. Warriors visit the Indiana Pacers in the 5th game of this 7-game road trip which spans 13 days.  Indiana is well rested with 3 days to prepare, following a western road trip of 4 games.  As everyone else on the planet, the Pacers will be pumped to break the defending champs’ winning streak.  The difference for Indiana is that they have the capability to do so.

The Golden St. Warriors enter this game at 22-0 SU with a regular season winning streak of 26-0.  There is now talk of the Warriors shattering the 33-0 streak of the 1971-72 LA Lakers.  Golden St.’s streak has been most impressive with all but 4 of the victories by a greater margin than today’s line.   MVP, Curry, gets most of the ink with his 32 PPG offensive average.  He is capable of “going off” for 50+ on any given night.  But, his 18 PPG average vs. Indiana is one of his lowest vs. any NBA opponent.  Golden St. averages 115 PPG on offense, including knocking down 44% of their triples.  But, in their version of up-tempo small ball, they also commit 16 TOs per game (among the worst in the league).  That will be an interesting matchup against an Indiana team, who forces 17 TOs per game, including 9 steals.  Each of those numbers is among the best in the NBA.

Indiana is an entirely different team than the one who plummeted to 38 victories last season.  The return of All-Star, Paul George, to team with PG George Hill gives the Pacers a backcourt that fuels their own version of small ball.  As such, they have the ability to go toe-to-toe with the Warriors at their own game.  Paul George is averaging 28 PPG and comes off a 48 point performance in a 122-119 loss to Utah, Saturday night.  Despite that defeat, the Pacers are still on a 12-4 SU ATS run.  In winning 6 of their last 8 games, Indiana has averaged 113 PPG, they knock down 40% of their triples which should provide an exciting performance against the perimeter power of Curry and Thompson.

Never easy to go against this Golden St. team, who has stayed remarkably humble and hungry after winning the NBA Championship last season!  This, however, may be their greatest challenge of the season.  In a battle of small ball vs. small ball, the Pacers have the ability to win this game outright.  Put the NBA Odds in your favor and join me with my NBA Pick on Indiana.
