NBA Picks: Warriors Bounce Back & Bring Cavaliers To The Wire

Friday, June 10, 2016 12:26 PM GMT

The Cavaliers showed a lot of life in game three by blowing out Golden State. They played much better defensively and odds makers have made them a small home favorite.

The NBA Odds have made Golden State a +2 underdog like at Pinnacle Sports -108. Although we backed Cleveland in game three for my NBA pick I will back the Warriors to play much better all-around and take this game to the wire. Don’t look for another blowout Cavaliers win.

Golden State Warriors
In game three the Warriors shot 42% from the field and just 27% from distance while turning over the ball 18 times. From the very beginning of the game the Cavs were on fire going up a quick 9-0 and it seemed that Golden State never really recovered from that hot start.

Across the board they got beat and just never really found any kind of rhythm, and although they were able to get up 33 shots from beyond the arc they only had nine of those drop.

From the Warriors perspective they know they can play a lot better on both sides of the ball because they usually don’t give up 34 points off of 18 turnovers nor do they normally shoot 65% from the free throw line. Out of all the stats for me and imagine for Golden State to be the highlight of their poor play was only having 21 assists compared to Cleveland’s 23. Don’t expect this same type of performance.

Not only did Cleveland shoot red hot throughout the evening the Warriors played one of their worst games of the season, it won’t happen two times in a row.

Cleveland Cavaliers
In game three the Cavs shot 53% from the field and 48% from distance while committing only 14 turnovers. Simply put they looked fantastic and as I thought it was a good spot to back them.

Two things I predicted came true in that they picked things up on the defensive end and they knocked down more shots from beyond the arc. They dominated the interior as well out scoring the Warriors 54-32 in the paint and out rebounding them 60-41. All that being said though I think what the Cavs found in game three will be difficult to repeat in game four as Golden State now has some time to go over some film as well as get their balance back.

Cleveland deserved to win that game no doubt but the Warriors are simply too good to play two stink bombs in a row so I would be really cautious in backing a Cleveland team that I still do not believe match up very well with Golden State. I highly doubt as well the Cavs will be as efficient from the outside as the Warriors will likely tweak a couple things defensively as far as personnel. On top of all this expect for the Warriors to have a better night from distance.
