NBA Picks: Up-tempo Pace With More Chances Since Line Tends To Lead 'Over' Between Spurs & Grizzlies

Spurs absolutely crushed Grizzlies in game one. NBA odds have come out making San Antonio a huge double digit favorite in game two. Will these teams be able to put up more points than game one?

NBA odds boards have set the total for this game at 187 like at Pinnacle Sports -105. Although Memphis is thin right now for one of my NBA pick I'm going to back over the total in this contest as I look for the tempo and pace to be picked up in game two.

Memphis Grizzlies
In game one Memphis shop just 39% from the floor but over 44% from distance while getting up just 79 shots and getting to the line six times. This is not the same team without point guard Mike Conley and they played just about as poorly as they could against an extremely good San Antonio team.

This is just a bad matchup for them overall but I am anticipating for them to try and push a little bit of pace tonight to give them a better chance in competing. On the season Memphis averaged almost 84 attempts per game but their shooting percentages were some of the worst in the NBA.

However, in their two previous games against San Antonio they were able to get more to their average getting up 83 attempts in those two contest. This should be their mindset tonight because basically if they try to grind it out with San Antonio they have no hope whatsoever.

I am not expecting for them to light up the scoreboard but 187 is a pretty low number and with the Spurs most likely getting up to triple digits again Memphis will not have to do much to help get over this total, I think they still have enough talent to do it.

San Antonio Spurs
In game one San Antonio shot 52% from the floor and over 45% from distance while forcing 16 turnovers out of Memphis. They dominated every facet of the game on Sunday putting up 106 points.

Defensively they are the best in the league but they are also very efficient on the offensive side so I expect, as mentioned, for them to put up triple digits again. They shot just a little bit below their season average of 83 attempts per game and I expect for them to be closer to that average tonight.

On the season, San Antonio averaged 103.6 points per game which ranked 10th in the NBA and from the looks of it Memphis will not be able to stop them tonight. It will be all about the pace and San Antonio is comfortable either grinding it out or spreading the floor. They put the clamps down on Memphis but there are two things I expect will happen tonight.

First, both teams will get the line a bit more as they went to the charity stripe just a combined 19 times in game one and the tempo is going to be a bit quicker tonight. With those two things in effect combined with San Antonio's ability to score at will I like for this Western Confernce game to go over the total.
