I have selected a few games that appear to offer some great value, so let’s take a look at our options and decide where we should place our NBA picks tonight.
Warriors vs. Rockets
Two strong Western Conference teams tip it off this evening in Texas, as the Rockets come in as -2 ½ home favorites in this one. The Warriors are finally healthy (for now) and are looking really good. Golden State has won four games in a row SU and are looking like a completely different team when Andrew Bogut is on the floor.
For those who aren’t big NBA fanatics, this is a number one overall pick we are talking about. If his presence in the paint on both defense and offense can continue to be there and not sitting on the bench dealing with his bad ankles, this team could surprise a lot of people.
Golden State is averaging 109 points per game in their last four games, and a couple of those they did without Stephen Curry and/or Bogut. Against the Rockets tonight, as long as they can slow down James Harden, the chances of the Warriors winning is large.
Jeremy Lin is banged up and he is listed as a game time decision after he tweaked his ankle in Monday’s practice. While this is no good for the Rockets, even if he plays, he likely won’t be 100%. The Rockets are also dealing with an elbow injury to Carlos Delfino, and he is listed as questionable for this one.
With the two injuries to the Rockets, I like the Warriors in this game. Bogut should have a solid game along with David Lee down low, and even if Lin plays, he can’t guard Curry to save his life. As long as the Warriors and Mark Jackson bring their defense, I like the Warriors. Golden State is 14-9-2 ATS on the road this season, and they have covered two of their last three against the Rockets. This will be their first game against one another, but the NBA odds should not be listing Golden State as underdogs.
My Pick: Warriors +2 ½
Bucks vs. Nuggets
For the second of my free sports picks I would like to take a look at a game that offers some great value for a total play. It’s time for the no-defense game, as the Bucks head into the Mile High city to face the Nuggets. Denver is a -6 ½ and even a -7 favorite tonight, with a large total of 214 ½ points. Both of these teams have the ability to light up the scoreboard, both with their offense and with their defense.
The Bucks are giving up 98 points per game on the season, a number that has been increasing since Scott Skiles left. Although they are giving up more points, they are scoring more too. The Bucks have touched 100 points or more in nine of their last 14 games, and they are playing loose and hard on offense.
The Nuggets are still giving up well over 100 points per game this season, but their offense is steadily improving. Denver is 4th in the NBA in points scored per game at 104, and besides the Spurs, own the largest active winning streak right now at 6 games.
While I’m laying off the spread, this game should be ripe for an over, despite the large number. 214 should be nothing for these two teams. Expect a VERY up-tempo style of game tonight, and expect each team to be well into the 100s.
My Pick: OVER 214 ½[gameodds]5/217223/43/us[/gameodds]
