Raptors vs. Hawks
The Hawks are coming off of a big win last night against the Bobcats, and now they have to head back home for tonight’s matchup with another East playoff team, the Raptors. The NBA Odds have Toronto as a -2 ½ road favorite here, with a total of exactly 200 points. Will the Hawks be able to grab two wins in a row here, or will Toronto take advantage of a tired Atlanta team?
The Hawks have been one of the worst clubs this season playing on no rest, and coming into tonight they are 6-11 ATS on the second night of a back to back. This is one of the reasons I like the Raptors here, but I see the total as a safer and much more attractive play at 200 points.
Even though the Hawks are 10-7 cashing the over on the second night of a back to back, I think the under is actually the play here. A big reason for the over cashing so much on no rest is because of the Hawks’ defense, which has actually been pretty solid over the last few weeks
The Hawks have cashed the under in six of their last seven games overall, including last night where they held the Bobcats to 31 2nd half points in Charlotte. This total is right at where last night’s was, and although I doubt the Hawks hold Toronto to 83 points for the game, I do think this will be a lower scoring game here at the end of the season.
The Hawks are 7-3 cashing the under this season as a home underdogs, while the Raptors have been one of the best teams cashing the under in conference games. Toronto is 23-16 cashing the under versus the East. With the trends and high total considered, I’m on the under.
My Pick: UNDER 200
There are several late night NBA starts tonight, and one of them is the Wizards heading into a winnable game in Sacramento versus the Kings. The NBA Odds have the Kings as +2 home underdogs, with a total of 202 ½.
The big question mark coming from this game is the status of DeMarcus Cousins, who missed the Kings’ last game with a knee injury. Although the injury is not considered serious according to reports, it does put his status for tonight in jeopardy. Although I think he will play tonight considering it was his coach, Mike Malone who said take the night off on Sunday, and not the trainers.
However my play on this game is a go no matter if Boogie plays or sits out. At 202 ½, the total looks like a prime target tonight for an over bet. The over has cashed in four of Washington’s last five road games, and even though they don’t’ meet often, the over has cashed in five of the last six times these two have played in California.
The Wizards are on a nice hot streak, and they have become a blossoming offensive team over the last three weeks. In their last ten games, the Wizards have averaged 107 points per game, while giving up 104.
Washington is also 5-2 cashing the over as road favorites this season, and I could see that trend continuing tonight. Washington has also has two full days off from their last game, and they are 7-5 cashing the over this season when that happens.
My Pick: OVER 202 ½
