There are several teams playing this evening, and I have found two NBA Odds that I am rather intrigued by. Let’s see if you feel the same way, and see if they are worthy of adding to your NBA picks.
Heat vs. Raptors
Miami travels north of the border to play the Raptors tonight, and online sportsbooks list the home Raptors as +5 ½ underdogs here against the two-time defending champions. A main member of the Heat may miss this game tonight however, as Chris Bosh did not make the flight to Canada after his wife went into labor.
This is the second NBA star whose wife went into labor yesterday, as Larry Sanders’ wife also went into labor. Bosh is listed as doubtful for this game, and even though there is still a chance he travels to Toronto late, the Miami big man is probably going to stay home for this early season game. Even though it is his old team, he has been back many times since he left to go to Miami.
game, potentially without Bosh, the Heat are going to have to rely on Chris
Anderson more to clog the middle. The Raptors have a very good frontcourt, and
if head coach Dwayne Casey would actually use them more than 20 minutes a game,
they have a great shot at covering against the champs. With only Lebron James
and Dwyane Wade to worry about, the Raptors will likely double-team all night,
and I think it will keep the game close.
Wade is still a little banged up it seems as he is already not playing in back to back games, and with Demar Derozan playing well opposite him, Wade is going to have a hard time on defense if he isn’t 100%. I’m taking the points here.
My Pick: Raptors +5 ½
Spurs vs. Nuggets
The Spurs are coming off of a bad loss to the Blazers on the road, and after giving up 115 points to Portland on Saturday, the Spurs continue their early season road trip into Denver to play the Nuggets. The NBA odds have the Spurs as -4 road favorites in this one, and while I am tempted to take points with the home team once again, I think the total is where the value is today.
At just 201, I see this game being ripe for an over bet. The Nuggets have been giving up some points as well so far this season, and through two games they are already giving up over 101 points per game. The Spurs haven’t been great on defense either, and even though they got back Tim Duncan from his chest contusion Saturday, at his age his defense is at best average.
While I fear the Nuggets still may have some issues scoring with their banged up roster, at home in the altitude, I see them getting out and running a lot on the Spurs here. This could be a very fast paced game, and even with Brian Shaw coaching the Nuggets now, the way Denver wins is by outscoring their opponent, not out-defending them.
Three of the last four times these two teams have met from Denver, the total has gone over. One of these teams will have to keep up with the other on offense in this one, so back the 'Over' with your sports picks, as the total is just a bit too low in my eyes.
My Pick: ‘Over’ 201
