When the schedule's so small, you've got to be extra selective with your NBA picks. Which two plays are looking the most attractive tonight?

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Detroit Pistons

The Pistons will play host to the Timberwolves as small one-point favorites in the NBA odds. The total is at 196.5.

Detroit has cashed in just one of their last six at home, but they've done very well when rested as of late. Over their last 17 contests when playing on two days of rest, they've recorded a 12-5 ATS mark.

The Pistons have been having a hard time defensively lately, giving up 106.0 PPG over their last five, but that may not be a huge issue against a Minnesota team that's averaging 94.8 PPG on the season and 94.5 PPG on the road.

The Timberwolves have had Detroit's number of the past couple seasons, winning four straight in the series. They've covered the spread in three of those wins.

However, we like the Pistons to break the spell this time around at home.

Detroit had been suffering through for a terrible spell, but got back on the winning side with a road win over the lowly Bobcats. Perhaps that will liften spirits around the Pistons camp, especially now that they're back in their own building.

Plus, it's not as if the Timberwolves have been excelling. They've lost three of four and are just 3-7 SU over their previous ten.

NBA Pick: Detroit Pistons -1

L.A. Clippers vs. Dallas Mavericks

L.A. has been a terrible team to back with your sports picks over the last ten days, as they've gone 1-4 ATS over their last five. Their only cover came at home (-11) against Philadelphia. The Clippers have been far from their dominant selves lately, though they will take a two-game winning run (vs. PHI, vs. BK) into tonight's road matchup with Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks

As for the Mavericks, they've turned the corner. They've also won two in a row and are 7-3 SU (6-4 ATS) over their previous ten. During that time they've beaten the likes of Boston, Atlanta and Utah.

Nowitzki has his legs under him and is playing like we expect him to, while it appears Rick Carlisle's rotation shuffling has had a positive effect. Mike James has been starting at the point and Brandan Wright has been starting inside, meaning Carlisle can bring Darren Collison, Vince Carter, Jae Crwoder, Elton Brand and Chris Kaman off the bench.

For L.A, Chris Paul has a banged up knee, but is expected to play, though Chauncey Billups is doubtful with a groin injury. Ronny Turiaf (knee) is questionable.

We think Paul will be running things as always, but in the end we think the Mavericks offer up good value for our NBA picks. They're trying to make a late surge for a playoff spot and this is a huge game for them.

Having turned the corner as of late, Dallas is our play to cover at home.

NBA Pick: Dallas Mavericks +1.5
