This Tuesday evening brings about a larger slate of games than Monday evening, so there should be plenty of value on tonight’s card. The NBA Odds are out for the most part, and I have found two games that I feel are great adds to your NBA Picks for tonight.
Bobcats vs. Mavs
Charlotte has not been great at scoring the ball this season. A big reason for that has been Al Jefferson not being healthy, however the big man has been playing well as of late. He has double-doubled in his last two games, and in the Bobcats’ last five games, he is averaging 17.6 points per game, while shooting 51% from the field.
Tonight against the Mavs, his play will be crucial to the Bobcats, and our NBA Picks success. However, I am not taking the +8 with the Cats tonight, instead I am focused more on the total of 193 ½. With no one on the Mavs to stop Al Jefferson or Kemba Walker, I think Charlotte’s scoring struggles will continue to evaporate tonight. They have scored 92 and 98 points respectfully in their last two games, and with how bad the Mavs are on defense, I see another mid to upper 90s scoring effort from the Cats.
Jose Calderon is a game time decision, and his presence will affect Walker’s scoring output this evening, because Monta Ellis cannot guard Walker. Dallas is giving up over 103 points per game when playing at home, and even better for our pick is the Mavs score around 109 points per game when playing in Dallas.
Four of the last five times these two teams have met, the total has gone over, and five of the last six times they have played in Dallas, the total has gone over. Take the over tonight, I think this price will be going up as the morning turns to evening.
NBA Pick: ‘Over’ 193 ½
Thunder vs. Kings
The NBA Odds for tonight’s game in Sacramento favors the Thunder at -6 ½, but once again the total of 203 intrigues me more. It seems as if every time these two teams meet, the score is higher, especially on the side of Oklahoma City. 15 of the last 23 matchups these two teams played in Sacramento have gone over the total, and in their last ten games overall against the Kings, the Thunder have averaged 110 points per game.
The Kings’ defense has gotten better this season under Mike Malone, but it still isn’t there outside of DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins should have a big night guarding the paint if he stays out of foul trouble, but more importantly, his offense should be huge tonight. No one on the Thunder is qualified to stop Cousins, and as long as he can stay out of foul trouble, I expect a big game from Boogie. Either way, he was in foul trouble in the Kings’ last game against the Warriors, and he still put up 24 points on 10/13 shooting.
On the flip side, no one on the Kings is going to do anything resembling slowing down Kevin Durant or Russell Westbrook. Both should have stellar games tonight on the road. The Thunder are giving up over 102 points per game on the road so far this season, and the Kings give up that much against Western Conference opponents as well. I see 203 as a bargain.
