The Blazers head into Utah tonight for the final time this season, and the NBA Odds are giving us the Jazz at -8 ½ in this one, with a total of exactly 200 points. The Blazers could still be without one of their stars, which could mean the difference between a winning or losing card.
LaMarcus Aldridge looks like he is 50/50 to report to Salt Lake City tonight to play in this game. Aldridge has missed the Blazers’ last two games with a sprained ankle, and before it was reported he would miss. However, a report came out on Sunday that Aldridge could still make the flight, even though that still wouldn’t mean he was definitely playing.
If Aldridge is indeed out, I’m all over the Jazz laying only -8 ½ points in this one. The line mysteriously opened at -11.5 at most online sportsbooks, but now back in single digits, I think the Jazz will crush the Blazers without Aldridge.
Portland is already a bad road team ATS, going 15-22-1 ATS on the road this season. Plus, the Jazz have covered five of their last seven meetings overall with the Blazers. Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap will feast this evening if Aldridge does in fact miss the game, and even if he does somehow play, I doubt he is close to 100%. With the Blazers currently 4 ½ games out of the playoffs with only nine games to go, I think the Blazers are finally packing it in.
Utah is a top ten team in playing defense at home, giving up only 94 points per game when playing in Salt Lake City. Combine that with the Blazers, who even with Aldridge, give up over 102 points per game on the road, and I’m all over the Jazz tonight. I see Utah winning by at least 15 points in this spot tonight, easily covering the small spread and cashing in for our NBA picks. The Jazz already beat the Blazers by ten points last week and that was the first game Aldridge missed. Now in Salt Lake City, lay the points with confidence.
