Friday Night NBA Betting: Wolves at Rockets
One of my single game NBA picks on Friday night is the Wolves heading into Houston to play the Rockets. Houston comes into this game as a huge -14 ½ favorite, with an over/under of 209 ½. In this game with a ton of injuries on one side, how best do we cash a winning ticket in tonight’s contest?
That is a loaded question, because the Wolves look like they will continue to be without their three starters in the frontcourt, leaving them vulnerable. The Rockets of course are the highest scorning team in the NBA, and they score even more at home. On the season, Houston averages 107 points per game, and 111 per game at home.
Not only are the Wolves still hampered by the injuries to some of their stars, but it is also affecting their defense more than anything. Without Kevin Love and Nikola Pekovic playing defense and grabbing rebounds, and Andrei Kirilenko playing good defense as well, the Wolves have been giving up huge point totals, especially on the road.
In their last eight road games dating back to a little over a month ago, the Wolves have given up an average of 106 points per game during that stretch. In their last five road games dating back to a little more than two weeks, it has been even worse. In their last five road games, the Wolves have given up more than 114 points per game on average.

Enter the Rockets, who can drop 120 on any given night, (something they have done 12 times already this season and come close to probably another 12 times) I’m loving their team total tonight. Whether it’s 112 ½ or 113 ½ on the NBA odds boards, I still like it wherever it lands. I think we will see another 120-point performance tonight from Houston, making their team total the only bet on this game that you need to look at.
