The calm always precedes the storm, and the same is true tonight in the NBA. Only two games are set to tip off tonight before 12 tip off tomorrow.

The NBA Odds for tonight seemingly still have some value, but in order to increase our potential payout, let’s parlay these two tonight to pad our bankroll for tomorrow.

Heat vs. Knicks

This might as well be the infirmary game for both teams, and while no super star will miss this game, there are multiple ‘game time decision’ labels for both teams. For the Knicks, Tyson Chandler is still dealing with an upper respiratory infection. He has the GTD tag along with Beno Udrih and Kenyon Martin. The Knicks are already without Pablo Prigioni and Metta World Peace as well. Not to mention the same sickness hitting Martin and Chandler is reportedly affecting Andrea Bargnani as well. Only four Knicks practiced yesterday.

While all members of the big three for the Heat are set to play tonight, the two other starters are both not looking good. Shane Battier and Mario Chalmers missed Miami’s game on Tuesday against the Pelicans, and there has been no news as of Thursday morning of their status. Battier has missed the last three games.

The big news from this group is Chandler by far. If he can not suit up tonight for the Knicks, it’s going to leave the lane wide open for the Heat, and with the NBA Odds at only -6 ½ in favor of Miami, the prospects of Chandler and possibly Bargnani missing make this spread extra valuable tonight. Both of their offensives and Chandler’s defense are critical, and as good as Carmelo Anthony is, this spread screams for us to take the Heat on the road.

In their last ten games, the Heat are averaging over 109 points per game, and with the possibility of a very short bench tonight for the Knicks, take the value with Miami in your NBA picks.

Thunder vs. Nuggets

Apparently the flu is going around, so after you’re done reading this, go ahead and get your flu shot, because I am thinking about it just sitting here. Serge Ibaka missed Tuesday’s game with flu-like symptoms, and if he is not well enough to play tonight, it will again put a huge strain on the Oklahoma City interior defense. The Thunder lost to the Jazz without Ibaka, and of course Russell Westbrook still.

The NBA Odds tonight have the Thunder as -3 road favorites with a total of 208 ½, and while the spread is intriguing, I am more focused on the total. With the potential that Ibaka misses again, the over is seemingly the value play. Also injured for the Thunder is Thabo Sefolosha, who is dealing with a finger injury, although he played through it on Tuesday.

The Nuggets are also dealing with a bigger injury, and it’s to arguably their best defender. Wilson Chandler is a game time decision tonight with a groin injury, and if he isn’t able to go, look for Kevin Durant to have another huge game like his 48-point effort two nights ago.

The Thunder have cashed the over in their last three games, while the Nuggets have cashed it in their last four in a row. Plus in their last ten games, the Nuggets have been giving up over 106 points per game. Look for the over to help us to a parlay win.

My Pick: 2-team parlay: Heat -6 ½ & OVER 208 ½ OKC/DEN
