We’ve had some bad breaks over the last couple of days, however The Sharp Pick rolls on, and Thursday is a perfect time to turn things around. With only two games lining the NBA schedule tonight, let’s parlay two picks together in order to gain some value heading into the weekend.
The early game tonight is in Oklahoma City, and the Thunder are -13 favorites in the NBA odds. Chicago played last night in Houston and got beat pretty badly. They have lost three in a row SU and six of their last seven SU as well.
Chicago is not only without their star point guard, but they are without his backup as well. Kirk Hinrich missed his third straight game last night with a back injury, which has led to DJ Augustin running the point guard duties for the Bulls. This has been really hurting the Bulls, as they have not won a game since Hinrich most recently went down.
The Thunder on the other hand should have little trouble scoring tonight. Even though the Bulls are one of the better defensive teams in the NBA, on the second night of a back to back, and playing in Oklahoma City are not going to be kind to the Bulls.
The Bulls are only 2-3 ATS so far this season playing on the second night of a back to back, and without a starting caliber point guard, three things will happen. Firstly, the Bulls likely won’t score the ball very well tonight. Second, Russell Westbrook will likely have 30 or more points, and lastly, turnovers have and will plague Chicago. Last night the Bulls turned the ball over 17 times, and against a Thunder defense that picks up at home, look for that number to be around last night’s.
The Bulls are only 2-5 ATS against the west this season, and the East overall is only 54-67-1 ATS against the west (44.67%) this season. Chicago is also only 4-10 ATS this season coming off a SU loss, and I see that trend continuing this evening.
The San Antonio Spurs head into Oakland after coming back to win last night in Phoenix, and now they are +3 ½ underdogs in the NBA Odds against the Warriors on Thursday. Tony Parker will once again miss this game for the Spurs, but it didn’t kill them last night against the Suns. However tonight against a better team, the Spurs guards will have to be playing at peak value for San Antonio to cover here.
Without Parker last night, Cory Joseph got the start, but only played 16 minutes. Patty Mills played much better and received 31 minutes last night, and might even start tonight in place of Parker. Manu Ginobli also played a key role in initiating the offense, (as he normally does when Parker is out) as he led the Spurs in assists with seven off the bench.
Despite having to come back last night, the Spurs who played the biggest minutes were Tim Duncan, along with Mills and Kawhi Leonard at 31. Ginobli only logged 27 minutes, so the Spurs shouldn’t be too tired tonight in Oakland. San Antonio is actually 4-3 ATS to start the season on the second night of a back to back, and even though they will really miss Parker tonight in Oakland, I see them overcoming it once again to cover.
The Spurs are 9-5 ATS and constantly undervalued on the road this season, while the Warriors are only 4-6-1 ATS at home this season. Andre Iguodala made his return on Tuesday, however he only played 17 minutes, and after missing a month, he is likely not 100% yet. I see this cancelling out Parker’s absence enough for the Spurs to cover here. We'll take the Spurs covering as an addition to our NBA picks tonight.
My Pick: 2-team parlay: Thunder -13 & Spurs +3 ½
