We have reached another Thursday in the NBA, and thanks to the short card, we have to try and extract some extra value for our NBA picks by parlaying some games together.

Although we haven’t been successful at all this season, we started out cold last season and finished strong. Let’s take a look at some of the nationally televised games tonight and decide out if the odds boards are offering any strong value for our NBA picks.

Knicks vs. Pacers

New York heads into Indianapolis tonight for the early game of our parlay. NBA odds were late coming out for the early game, and early into Thursday morning, the only betting line out for this game is the -5 in favor of the Pacers at Pinnacle.

It is interesting that Carmelo Anthony’s actions after the Knicks’ game with the Celtics have earned him a suspension for tonight’s game. Anthony attempted to act like a tough guy and wait for Kevin Garnett after the game, and it will cost him a game check and his team the chance to utilize their best player against a tough team on the road.

The Pacers are without a few key pieces tonight as well, as their emerging point guard George Hill is battling a case of bronchitis, and is questionable for tonight’s game. He was held scoreless against Miami on Tuesday, and he did not practice Wednesday. If he can’t play, it will mean more minutes for DJ Augustin.

With Carmelo Anthony out of the picture, the Pacers -5 brings about great value. When on the road, the Knicks don’t score as well, and without Anthony to bail them out when they aren’t hitting three pointers, the Pacers will earn the win and the cover.

Heat vs. Trail Blazers

Our late game will feature the Heat and Blazers from the Rose Garden, and the NBA Odds favor the Heat by -3 ½. Miami and Portland both had the night off on Wednesday, and while Portland is coming off an overtime win against the Magic, the Heat are coming off a bad loss to the Pacers.

The Heat mustered only 77 points against the Pacers on Tuesday, leading you to think that atleast one of more of the big three would have played bad, but that was not the case on Tuesday. The rest of the team scored only 11 points to go along with 66 points from the super stars.

This happens at times with the Heat, and the Pacers were able to destroy Miami on the glass, while holding down all of the other Heat players. If Portland can do some of the same, they will have a great shot at beating Miami as well.

Portland isn’t without concern tonight, as LaMarcus Aldridge is a bit banged up. Aldridge had to undergo an MRI on his wrist, but it was only a sprain, and he is probable for tonight’s game.

Aldridge is going to be key tonight on the boards and as a number one offensive weapon. Miami’s Chris Bosh won’t be able to check him defensively, and if Aldridge has a good night, it could be two straight losses for Miami.

In tonight’s game, the total of 196 seems a bit low, so I’m siding with the over in this one. Miami should come back from their awful offensive showing on Tuesday, while I think the Blazers will be able to put up some points.
