The Knicks are coming off a win last night against the Bucks in New York, and even though it’s the beginning of the season, the Knicks are +8 ½ underdogs off the back to back. While I think the Bulls are going to come away with the win tonight, the Knicks are pretty undervalued here at eight points.
The back-to-back likely won’t hurt too much considering this is game two of the season, and I fully expect the Knicks to be rested and ready. Even though they blew a 25-point lead last night, I like them here against the Bulls taking so many points.
The Bulls looked sloppy against the Heat, and Derrick Rose is still ironing out some preseason rust after his 18-month layoff, so I don’t think the Bulls will be able to pull away here and beat the Knicks by double figures. Joakim Noah did not look great either after missing most of the preseason, so with Chicago still not operating at full capacity, I could see Carmelo and company only losing by four or five points tonight off of their back to back. I’m taking points with the Knicks as the first leg of our parlay.
Golden State absolutely destroyed the Lakers last night, and after spending another night in southern California, they play tonight at Staples against the Clippers. This game should be far from a blowout, but the NBA odds favor the Clippers here at -6 ½, with a total of 204. While I do think the Warriors taking points could have some value, I see the total of this game being the best bet.
After playing last night and scoring 125 points, the Warriors are a bit overvalued here in the total. The Clippers are going to be one of the better defensive teams in the NBA this season, and with Mark Jackson preaching defense as well, this total may be a bit to high.
Even though these two teams have cashed the over in five games in a row against one another, I think the early season rust will show here. LA did not look good against the Lakers on opening night, and I think the one thing that will be fixed by tonight is the Clippers’ effort on defense. Doc Rivers will not allow his team to put up another duck on defense like Tuesday, especially against one of the teams they could play in the playoffs.
Even though the Warriors have a great team, their bench worries me some, and I think that may end up being the difference in this game for the total. The Clippers’ bench is fantastic, but last night in the blowout against the Lakers, the Warriors’ bench didn’t play great outside of Toney Douglas. Without the services of the injured Harrison Barnes, the Golden State bench lacks a star talent. Look for scoring to stop when these benches come into the game, which I think will lead to the under being the second play of our parlay.
My Pick: 2-team parlay Knicks +8 ½ & ‘Under’ 203 (GS vs. LAC)
