The Oklahoma City Thunder have won 13 of their first 17 games, and are on pace to win 62 this season. They’re favored in the NBA odds for Friday night to add to that total as they visit the New Orleans Pelicans, who are without star power forward Anthony Davis.

Keep in mind that the Pelicans weren’t exactly that good with him in the lineup. They are 9-9 on the year overall and are just 5-4 at home. It’s hard to get excited about those numbers if you’re thinking of adding them to your NBA picks.

The Thunder are simply the better team. They’ve won all but four of their games and each of those losses was on the road to teams that are about .500 or better (Minnesota is 9-10). They’re clearly the superior squad and their job will be made much easier with Davis out of the lineup.

The New Orleans Pelicanscan win because…

They’ve proven they can be competitive without the Eyebrow. Sure, losing Davis’ is a big blow but it’s not a deathblow. He’ll be back in about six-to-eight weeks and all they have to do is stay afloat for now. They’ve proven they can do exactly that as they’ve won two of their last three games. People who make their NBA picks should note that the Pelicans have the depth. Al-FarouqAminu is coming off a game where he had 16 points and 21 rebounds while Ryan Anderson is averaging 28.3 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game in his last three.

The Thunder are just 4-4 on the road. Keep that in mind before you lay the points with them on the NBA odds.

Be sure to check out SBR's sportsbook reviews!

Outlook & Pick

Here’s the lone stat you need to know: the Pelicans are 0-5 ATS and straight up against teams with a winning record this season. That basically sums it up. Take the Thunder as the Pelicans just aren’t on their level even with Davis – let alone without him.

Pick:Thunder -4 at BetOnline

[gameodds]5/249321/?r-1=43-19-349/us[/gameodds]
