The Oklahoma City
Thunder Can Win Because…
Their defense will improve. They allowed the Grizzlies to shoot 49.4% from the field in Game 2 as well as 40% from three-point land. On top of that, the Grizzlies got 21 freebies at the charity stripe. The Thunder are one of the better defensive teams in the league and they are going to tighten things up.
On the flip side, they only shot 39.8% from the field and hit 30% of their threes in Game 2. We’re talking about a team that was sixth in the NBA with a 47.1 field goal percentage. That will be the difference in Game 2, so take the Thunder with your NBA picks.
Grizzlies Can Win Because…
They’ve figured out the Thunder. In Game 1, the Thunder came out on a mission and were blowing out the Grizzlies by halftime. However, the light bulb went on for the Grizzlies in the third quarter as they eventually cut the lead down to two points and since then, they’ve been a different team. In Game 2, they didn’t have to weather any type of storm. They started off on the right foot, kept their composure and left Chesapeake Arena with a win. Now that they’re back at home, they should be able to continue their stellar play.
The Grizzlies are a different team this year. They gained a lot of experience by going to the Eastern Conference finals last year and they have rounded out their supporting cast with some quality pieces. With a foundation that includes Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph, they are as strong as anyone on the interior and the Thunder don’t seem to have the tangible answers right now.
Outlook & Pick
The Grizzlies took it to the Thunder in Game 2 but look for them to make adjustments and steal back home court advantage in Game 3. They’ll be more efficient at both ends of the floor in terms of field goal percentages and they’ll get the job done.
