Bucks vs. Thunder
Milwaukee burned us last night not being able to score at all in the second half of their game that was well on its way to cashing the over, but the good thing about that is we can turn around and make our money back on the Bucks just 24 hours later as they travel into Oklahoma City. Tonight the NBA odds have the Bucks as +13 underdogs against the Thunder, with a total of 204 points.

It’s interesting that Jason Kidd chose to have back surgery in the middle of what is probably a huge regression season for the Bucks. This Milwaukee team has turned right back into the defenseless and inconsistent team we saw multiple years before last year, and tonight off the back to back, and against the Thunder, the Bucks look like a great fade.

While Milwaukee has been very good on the second half of back to backs this season, the Thunder are a much different team than most of the squads the Bucks have covered against this season on no rest. Sure, they were able to beat the Warriors on the second half of a back to back, but the Warriors were also coming off a back to back of several overtimes, and they did beat the Cavs on the second half of a back to back, but other than that, their wins have come against teams like the Knicks, Nuggets and Nets.

The Thunder have not been great against the East this season so far, and while they are only 2-4 ATS, the Bucks are only 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games. Lay the points with the Bucks coming into the game tired.

Hawks vs. Rockets
With short slates it’s sometimes hard to find value in the spreads, and it’s one of the reasons I like the total for the inter-conference battle between the Rockets and Hawks. Right now the NBA Odds have the Rockets as slight -2½ favorites, with a total of 208 points, and after the Hawks’ lost their winning streak last night to the Pacers, who limited them to only 87 points, you have to think that the Hawks will want to come out and re-start their recent offensive surge.

Before last night’s game, the Hawks were coming into this one averaging over 111 points in their last six games, and while the Pacers are one of the better and more undervalued defensive teams in the league, the Rockets are far from that. Off the back to back, we could even see the Hawks give up some more points in this one, and if we get a fast paced game with little to no defense from the Rockets, I think the over could be a good play tonight.

Houston is still giving up 108 points per game to Eastern Conference opponents this season, but they have also improved their scoring recently averaging 105 points per game over their last ten games. The over has now cashed in six of the last seven games for the Hawks, and even though it doesn’t mean much, the over has cashed in four of the last six times these teams have played over the last three seasons. Take the over for your NBA picks and look for a high scoring game in Houston tonight.
