It’s a big night of NBA Odds, with 11 games on the slate. I have combed through the board to come up with two of my best NBA picks for this giant Wednesday slate of NBA games.

Knicks vs. Heat
Last night New York ruined our NBA pick on the Hawks laying the points, as they went into Phillips Arena and took control of the game right from the start. While the Knicks had to fend off a late run from the Hawks, tonight after that hard fought game they are down in Miami to play a much tougher Heat team. Right now the NBA Odds have the Heat as -7½ favorites, with a low total of 192 points.

Both of these teams play at a pretty slow pace, and it shows tonight with this total of 192, which is the second lowest number of the slate right now. However, even with their win last night, the Knicks look like a good fade, and hopefully their road success last night was an outlier.

New York was 0-4 SU and ATS on the road in their last four games heading into last night’s win, and even with the win, New York is only 3-7 SU and ATS in their last ten road games, after starting the year 9-0 SU and ATS away from MSG. Against the Heat, who play much better defense than the Hawks, I just can’t see the Knicks hanging on in this one on the road on the second night of a back to back.

The Knicks are 4-3 ATS this season when playing on the second half of a back to back, however, if you look closer, this team is only 1-4 SU on the second night of a back to back where they play both or just the second game on the road, and in those games the Knicks are 3-2 ATS. However, most of those wins came earlier in the season in November or early December. Now that we are well on our way to the halfway point of the season, the Knicks and other teams should start to drop off on the second night of a back to back.

These two teams have played twice already this season, and in both cases, both home and away, the Heat crushed the Knicks by about 20 points both times. While 20 points may be a bit too much to expect, I see the Heat winning rather easily and covering the spread.

Championship Futures Odds Update

Nuggets vs. Wolves
While it’s probably not a game that you’re setting your DVR for, the Nuggets and Wolves have some very nice NBA odds value for tonight. The NBA Odds favor the Wolves at -3 ½, but the total is where I am looking towards for value. At just 204 points, it’s one of the larger totals of the slate tonight, but it also has the best chance to go over in my opinion.

Neither one of these teams is interested in defense. They both rank in the bottom third of the league in Defensive Efficiency, and while neither one of them plays at a very fast pace, the defense alone in this one could be enough for the total to go over. Only the Lakers, Bucks and Pelicans have a worse DRtg than the Nuggets this season at 106.5, and the Blazers aren’t much better at 103.8.

This will be the third time these two teams play this season, and in two of the last three games the total has gone over. Denver has also scored at least 111 points in the last two games, while Minnesota is averaging nearly 105 in the last two games that have gone over this season as well. With the over cashing in four of the last five for the Nuggets overall, that’s where I’m looking for value tonight.
