We nailed both of our NBA best bets on Saturday evening’s short slate of NBA Odds, and now here on Sunday, the day is filled with NBA action. Let’s try and make our profits grow today.

Hornets vs. Washington
The Hornets are heading into Washington DC this afternoon to play the Wizards, and the NBA Odds have the Hornets as -5 favorites on the road in this one, with a total of 207. While I am usually weary of betting totals for early afternoon games, this one is just screaming at me to take the over, even though it’s an early start game.

The Wizards are coming into this one after cashing the over in three straight games, and the biggest reason for that has been their defense falling apart. In those three games, the Wizards have given up close to 110 points, while scoring an average about 109 points per game during the same stretch. They have now cashed the over in seven of their last 10 games overall, and in three straight home games.

The Hornets on the other hand need a win to keep pace in the race for home court advantage in the first round, and they too have been quite good on offense lately. They have scored at least 111 points in their last two games, and now they get to face a defense that is just as bad as New York or Brooklyn’s. The over has cashed in the last two times these two teams have faced one another this season, and even with the injury to John Wall, Ramon Sessions is a credible point guard that has the ability to run this Wizards offense well. Washington has been eliminated from the playoffs, so they have nothing to lose in this game, and that could mean even less defense from the Wizards this afternoon. Charlotte has cashed the over in six of their last nine road games, so add it to your NBA Picks this afternoon.

Jazz vs. Nuggets
The Nuggets are a team that has succumbed to the tanking, while the Jazz are fighting to hole onto their playoff spot with only a few days left in the season. If they lose tonight, it’s very possible they could fall out of the playoff hunt momentarily with the Rockets at home against the Lakers today in what should be an easy win. Now the Jazz have to travel into Denver this evening, and the NBA Odds have them as -6 favorites, with a total of 192 points.

Utah seems like a great play here for several reasons. They are desperate for a win against a team that is anything but desperate. Utah has beaten the Nuggets easily in all three of their meetings this season, and those games were with Kenneth Faried and Danilo Gallanari, both players who will miss today’s games. The Nuggets cover in their most recent game, but the Jazz have held Denver to less than 90 points in all three of their games so far this season, and like I said, this is the least talented Denver team the Jazz have had to face.

On the flip side, Utah was a lot more hurt earlier in the year as well. They lost Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert for long stretches, and not only that, but now they just got back Alec Burks from a long absence, and he should be playing some limited minutes as well in this one.
Utah comes into this came cashing in six of their last nine road games, and I really like them here. The spread has already jumped up from -5, and I am locking it in at -6 before it goes up even more.
