NBA Picks Of The Day: Two Games On Stack + Kobe Too Hyped Up?

There are plenty of games on the final day of the NBA season, but while we don’t know a lot about who is in and out, we can still make some assumptions and grab potential NBA Odds value.

Raptors vs. Nets
While the Raptors likely won’t play any of their studs in this game, we easily cashed a first half total with them last night, and now on the second night of a back to back, I am doubling down and trying for it again. The NBA odds have the Raptors as -4 ½ road favorites tonight against the Nets, with a total of 205 ½. While the first half total isn’t out just yet, I expect it to bet just over 100 points, and I am once again taking the over.

The Raptors have been very successful scoring in the first halves of their games recently, and their defense tends to give up a few points as well. This likely won’t change if they sit their starters in this one, because in a meaningless game it will turn into an up and town game with a very fast pace.

Brooklyn has been awful on defense all season, and their first half defense has been giving up close to 60 points per first half in their last five games. They average about 50 points per first half at home on the season, while the Raptors are averaging close to 53 points per first half against their division this season, and giving up about 50 as well.

These two teams have played one another three times already this season, and in their last two games against one another, the first half score was at least 100 points. In a game where both teams have nothing to lose, look for the defense to be non-existent, and the first half total to go over again for the Raptors tonight.

Jazz vs. Lakers
Obviously Utah’s visit to LA tonight is going to be overshadowed by Kobe Bryant’s last game. I’m sure the crowd is going to be huge, and tickets are probably expensive, and the Lakers might even be fired up to try and send Bryant out the right way. All that is fine, but they are facing a desperate Utah Jazz team in need of a win and some help to get their playoff spot back.

Right now the NBA Odds have the Jazz as -6 road favorites in this one, with a total of 193 points. While Utah will be without Rudy Gobert in this one, who sprained his ankle in Utah’s last game, that still doesn’t mean much when it comes to this game. Even if the Lakers are extra amped up to play in this one, the Jazz are still very much undervalued as only -5 ½ favorites.

The Jazz have dominated the Lakers in all three of their past meetings this season, and in a couple of those they were already without Gobert, so not much has changed. Utah has been playing better on the road too, winning SU and ATS in their last three games away from Energy Solutions Arena.

If it were any other team who had already locked up their playoff spot, or was already out of the race, I would say take the points with LA tonight, but even though Utah needs this win and some help from the Kings, they are still going to give it their all tonight, and that should trump any renewed energy the Lakers and Kobe Bryant have tonight at home.
