Coming off splitting a pair of NBA Picks last night on the short slated Thursday evening, the NBA Odds are back to plentiful this evening, and I have found a couple of plays.

Pacers vs. Pelicans
This line kind of puzzles me. The Pacers have been anything but elite this season, but they have been pretty close to a team that you would label as one of the top three teams in the Eastern Conference, and now they are traveling into New Orleans to play the Pelicans. The NBA Odds have New Orleans as a +2 home underdog, with a total of 205 points.

New Orleans is coming off their most embarrassing loss of the season, as they dropped a game against a Dallas Mavericks team resting four of their five starters, and they did it at home in New Orleans. I have not forgotten about that, but with the line of only -2 in favor of the Pacers, I guess the sportsbooks have already forgotten how bad the Pelicans truly are. Outside of Anthony Davis, this team is the worst in the NBA. They play no defense, and as much praise I gave Alvin Gentry this offseason, he is still trying to start Tyreke Evans at the point guard, which is a lost cause.

However, that means the Pacers are an extremely good value play tonight as only two point favorites. Paul George is probably going to wreck the Pelicans tonight, and while Davis should have a big game as well, New Orleans does not pose a huge threat to Indiana. The Pelicans are only 6-9 ATS at home this season while the Pacers have moved to 10-8 ATS on the road this season. The Pacers have been pretty bad against the West so far this year at 1-5 ATS on the road, but I believe we nailed their first ATS win on the road against the West, and I am trying to predict the second.

The Pelicans are only averaging 96.4 points per game against the Eastern Conference this season, and while the Pacers’ road defense isn’t great against the West, they should hold New Orleans to less than 100 points. Even last season when the Pelicans were playing better under Monty Williams and the Pacers were without Paul George, Indiana won and covered both those games, and has covered seven in a row against New Orleans.

Mavericks vs. Bucks
As mentioned above, most of the Mavs are coming off some nice rest after their scrubs beat up on the Pelicans, and now they get a chance at another win tonight in Milwaukee against the other most disappointing team in the NBA, the Bucks. Right now the NBA Odds have the Mavs as a slight favorite, or even at PK, and the total is coming in at 201½.

While the spread is very inviting once again, I have a one road favorite per night rule that I just made up for this article, so instead I am banking on the total of 201½. The one thing that has been more than noticeable about the Bucks this season has been their defense. Milwaukee is allowing 104 points per game this season, and against the Western Conference that number goes up. On top of that, the Bucks have allowed 110 points per game in their last ten games, and in their last five games (which includes a 95-85 win against the Wolves) the Bucks have still given up over 114 points per game. If you take away that good performance against Minnesota, the Bucks are giving up nearly 122 points per game in those four most recent games.

Needless to say, the total is a bargain for the over in this one, and I am jumping in feet first like my NBA pick above. Dallas isn’t a defensive monster either on the road giving up just over 103 points per game, and on top of that the over has now cashed in four of the last five for the Bucks, and four of their last five home games as well. In their respective home/road positions this season, these two teams have combined to cash the over at 21-14.
