Our NBA Picks of the Day have been regressing back to the mean recently, but that doesn’t mean I’m going cold. On the short slate tonight, here are my two best plays for the NBA Odds.

Hawks vs. Sixers
The first game of the evening isn’t that appealing from a pure watching the game standpoint, however, from an NBA betting standpoint, this game could hold some nice value tonight. Right now the NBA odds have the Hawks as -9 road favorites in this one, and while I am tempted to take the points with Philadelphia like I have done so many times this season, I am instead looking towards the total of 205½ for some value.

The Hawks are not the same offensive or defense team from last season, but their defense on the road hasn’t been bad this season, and their defense overall against the East has been ok as well.

The key for this one however will be the Sixers and their offense. On the year the Sixers have cashed the under at 9-4-1 at home this season, and a lot of that has to do with their ability to put the ball in the basket at home. The Sixers are averaging fewer points at home than on the road at 92.6 per game, and while their home defense leaves something to be desired, if the Sixers are in the low 90s again for this one, the under looks like a really good buy.

Outside of the first game between these two this season where the Hawks unleashed 127 points on Philly in Atlanta, the five times these two teams met before that game last season and the year before all went under the total, and in four of those games a team didn’t not reach 90 points. I could very well see the Sixers not getting to 90 points in this one, and I am leaning towards the under because of it. The total in this one is simply too high.

Celtics vs. Bulls
In what could be the best game of the night, the Bulls are playing host to the struggling Celtics, in a time where the Bulls are looking like one of the better teams in the East recently. However, the sportsbooks have not caught on to Chicago’s recent play on the offensive end, and tonight they have them as only -5 favorites at home against Boston, with a total of 203.

Chicago is currently on a five game winning streak to start off the New Year, and their offense has been cruising. No team has a better ORtg than Chicago does in the last five games, and in those five games the Bulls are averaging more than 109 points per game. Going up against a team that is struggling some on the offensive end, and you have a recipe for a Bulls cover here.

The Celtics have lost three of their last four games SU and ATS, and two of the games were against the Knicks and Lakers. Boston is also only 2-6 SU in their last eight meetings with the Bulls, however, in their only meeting earlier this season, the Celtics won the game in Boston.

With the injury to Avery Bradley, the Celtics will have no answer for Jimmy Butler and the Bulls tonight. Chicago is finally starting to play up to their potential, and coach Fred Hoiberg’s system and rotations are finally starting to come around. Lay the points as your NBA pick.
